Thank you!!!!!!! My hubby said the same thing. He teaches college chemistry (previously at MSU, the school both students attend) and if everyone that went in saying they were pre med actually made it we would all be fearful for our lives each time we visit the Doctor.

Not knowing the mother but just extrapalating from my own experience with my family, The mother seems to me to be a budinisky and interfering in this womans life, it has nothing to do with maturity and every think with privacy and the mother overreacted IMO. since we BOTH don't know the surcumstances behind the reason they went to WDW without saying anything to anyone, well just leave it alone, I have and would do the same thing again if put in the same situation as these folks

Did you ever consider that the mother was in the wrong with her ADULT Daughter, and pushed her into this decision, since we both don't know the surcumstances surrounding this we should just leave it alone, we could tear apart the story the mother and the couple as to who was in the wrong here and we don't them the mother or the family so I think its rude to speculate that you know whats going on here, since I don't either and untill you have a mother like mine you can't begin to undertand what it is like to be under there thumb after the age of 18 and not living at home makes it worse

Hey there JMarc, I do tend to agree with you IF the daughter actually had acted like an adult. I Am assuming that she is living at home with her parents. I am not 100% sure that this is true. I know when I go away I do call my mother and just let her know I Am OK. I Am 38 years old and have lived on my own since I was 28. My Mom in turn treats me like an adult and doesnt call the hotel and ask if anyone else is staying in my hotel room or call the police if I dont check in every 5 minutes. That is my business and if I choose to share, great, if not then fine! The mother certainly overreacted and is certainly a budinsky and was probably wrong for going to the police who probably also overreacted. According to the letter of the law, this girl certainly is an adult, however if she was afraid to tell Mommy that she was going to Disneyworld with her boyfriend, that doesnt say much for her adult status. As I have said before if she is living at home with he parents, then she has to go by their rules. If she doesnt like the rules she should certainly move out and support herself as an adult would. As you had said though there are so many unanswered questions, Why was the daughter scared to tell her parents she was going to Disney? She was already on vacation with her BF so what was the difference of Cape Cod or Disneyworld? Does she live at home or not? Were they expecting her home on a certain date and she just didnt show up? Why didnt she just call her parents and tell them that she was extending her vacation but dont be specific as to where? Too many questions, not near enough facts and all I know was that as taxpayers we paid probably a very large sum of money for a nationwide manhunt for these two young people, who were fine!!! That is the part that gets me!!! Can we send the bill for the manhunt to these two young people?? Belle

If we are going to send a bill to anyone it should be to the girl's mother, she is the one who initiated the searching after all. Seriously, it seems she overreacted (based on the article in the above link).

I live in the same town as my parents, just 3 miles away in fact, and I frequently go away without telling them a thing. Is there a nationwide man-hunt going on if they stop by or call and I'm not home? No. Sometimes they leave a message on my voice mail and I don't return their call for days, are they alarmed and up nights worrying about me? No.

Again, I'm not saying that these two kids are blameless (a little communication never hurts, she could have left a message for her mom saying "Hey, I'm off to WDW." and then left her phone off if she didn't want to be bothered) but it seems like the mother needs to do some growing up of her own.

By the way, I heard on the radio today that some of the Boston area police were pulled off an unsolved murder case to assist in the search. What a waste, bill her.

Well, if it's payable to me and I get an amount comensurate to my annoyance from all the coverage this got, it will be at least enough for MY OWN WDW vacation! :lol:

Like a few said. I would have acted like an adult, and simply told her parents that they are going to disney, like it or not. Or at least call once they get there.

I think it was wrong for them to dissapear!
