MISICI Rumor

this "new" show should start around nov 20th.

also note, there will be no 5:40 show several days next week.

Yep, yep, yep! :) one of my Cast Member friends who is connected to MiSiCi told me that all this next week (starting tomorrow?) there will be no late street party (5:40 show) since everyone in the show is being called in at 4AM to rehearse the changes. (Bless the Cast Members! I am a morning person, but I couldn't drag myself in to work at 4AM, let alone be expected to dance or drive a float at that time!) This does make it look like the changes will be in place right around the 20th.

The whole celebrate theme has been ran into the ground and is past due for ending. TDO just thinks they can save a buck and do the same thing for ten years and get by because of the high attendance in domestic and international tourists, hence the same main afternoon parade.

Thank you! I am so tired of the "celebrate" notion being shoved down my throat. I was just watching a video from 1989 that someone linked to in another thread. The ferry boat and park were packed, and yet amazingly, there weren't banners "celebrating" anything, and no "celebration."

There was marketing of course (it looked like leftovers from the 60th birthday of Mickey - still have my shirt with black and white Mickey shaking hands with color Mickey!), but the whole notion of a "celebration" is really tiresome.

Particularly since there isn't a year-long "celebration" for something that's actually worth celebrating - the 40th!

I really think that what they did on the 40th wasn't far from what should have been done as a celebration. It definitely does not merit a year young celebration.

I do feel the parks should see substantial additions for the 50th.

I am not 100% certain, but I do believe that all of the references to celebrate are being removed from the show. The whole section of “Put Your Hands Up” for whatever you are celebrating has either been cut or completely changed to something new. I think the travel music at the beginning and end has changed as well – one of the cast members was trying to tell me on Sunday, but the music is so loud that I didn’t catch it all – I was told that my daughter, who loves to dance along with the show, now has a LOT of new choreography to learn! But yes, everyone does seem really excited about the changes.
I also heard that they were testing the use of paper confetti instead of streamers at the end of the parade, but I don’t know if it ended up working or not.

Well, I just have my fingers crossed that Miley Cyrus is gone. I think that's my only wish...

Honestly though only if you know its Miley Cyrus music already, there's no way that it would be really obvious. Frankly, I hate Miley but I love the music in the show. Its not like they're playing a track of her, they're different and better arrangements.

For the longest time I didn't even know it was a Miley Cyrus song -- In fact I think I found out it was her song when I read it somewhere on this forum! I like the "Pumpin' Up the Party" music, but I am not sure it will still be around since there is a lot of the "Celebrate, Celebrate, Yeah!" in between the actual lyrics.

The new show "Officially" rolls out this Saturday (11/19) but I am told that there is a pretty good chance that you will see it this Friday.

Aww we'll miss the opening song if they changed that. I loved that boom of "HEY, GET UP>>>>"...gosh it was loud if you were in the wrong place.

And my dd will miss shaking her tail feathers if that's gone...she's been practicing since she couldn't keep up last time she tried. But, we're excited to see the changes next month! :)

I can agree with that.

There should still be shaking of tail feathers going on -- I don't think they changed any of the the street dance or conga sections of the show -- so tell your daughter to keep practicing! ;)

They never did the conga lines when we saw it last month. But it was a rainy day and it seemed like the entire thing was shortened. The stilt walkers were dancing on foot (which she preferred :D) and I thought it odd that the conga was cut but then we hadn't been in 5 months so the changes aren't as obvious to me. The shows weren't very long....less than 10 minutes and I thought it was advertised as about 15? I only know the duration because we filmed them entire thing (there were only 2 shows that day).

There are about 17 different versions of the show that vary in length depending on the weather. If the street is wet or it is really windy the stilt walkers will be on the ground (my daughter prefers this too -- it is really hard to hug people when they are way up in the air!) When it is super hot they first cut the Congo line then they will cut the pompom box opening sequence (characters will already be out of the box when the parade arrives in the Hub). If it is sprinkling the will do a drive through party (I like to call it a Drive By Party) where the characters are already out of the box and the parade drives down to the hub, does one loop around and then drives back down Main Street without stopping . I have even seen it once where Goofy was on top of Sebastian’s box (Sebastian got injured the party before) and they had cut out all of the character’s voices.
If it is a full party it is about 20-25 minutes from the time the first float comes out of the gate on Main Street to the last float leaving Main Street.

:p I have realized that I spend WAY too much time watching MISICI over the past year and a half! But it is my daughter's favorite thing to do, and I have fun watching her have fun!

I was looking at your flickr, what a lucky little girl! If we were local we'd be right there with ya.
The day we noticed the shortened parade it was wet but not raining....then started a slight drizzle towards the end (or well, less than 10 minutes into it, then it ended shortly thereafter). It seemed like a normal loop, stop, characters pop out the box etc...but yes, brief. That was a bummer since the person she loves the most was there that day and that was the only way to see him!
Little girls and their crushes are the best, right?

Being a local is the best thing in the world! My daughter realizes how lucky she is to be able to "grow up" at the park and whenever we have family come visit she makes sure that she is the perfect tour guide and that they get to experience all of the fun! We have also gotten to know other locals who are also there every Sunday and it has become our regular thing to meet up with them at the opening show and then all go on rides together.

If it started to sprinkle during the street party they probably cut the show short -- sometimes they will start with the intention to do a full show but can call it in the middle (you will see cast members on the ground subtly signaling to the dancers and characters that they are shortening the show) and they will skip the conga and go right from “tail feather” to “Time to take it back to the sidewalks”
Ah, yes – little girls and their crushes! Mine is in love with the Mad Hatter (obviously) as well as a particular dancer – who is your daughter crushing on?

Okay, so here is some more information that I just heard.

"Pumpin' up the Party" is still the opening travel music, but it will change a bit (again, all of the "celebrate" stuff is removed) and the dance breaks will be different.

The floats will be stopping in different locations, and the characters are changing spots.

Terk and Timon are being added in.

Saturday... (my husband and daughter are going -- I'll post pictures)

That's what they did....tail feathers was the end of it both times, and the second time it wasn't raining at all. It was gray because it had rained most of the day, but it wasn't raining at that point.
My girl is in love with the guy in the video I posted a few messages back, post #89 (and he happens to be pictured right there by my name too )

I was sad when I saw it in August, they had technical issues before the parade came out. I remember the number of dancers was very low aswell and then they cut a good portion of the dancing in the street part. I think the area where the confetti stuff comes out on one of the floats wasn't working because it never went off and their was some hanging from it. Overall I love Move it! Shake It! and I think whenever I go my family all enjoy it and none of us are kids the youngest age is 18. It's something they should keep because it makes me feel like a big kid and bring on some fresh changes as long as they are good ones I am happy.
