Minor Trash Can Explosion at DisneyLAND in Anaheim

Well...I got the Ice Cream Vendor part right.
I am trying to recall if they had drink only carts there. At WDW the drink carts usually sell something else as well...like...ice cream or popcorn. I remember the popcorn venders there, but I can't recall drink only vendors.

I think you are right, even though the article says he just sold drinks, and he was manning a drink / ice cream cart.

I happen to be in Disneyland when this occurred (although not in Toontown) and I was really impressed with how well Disney was able to handle this without causing mass hysteria. I didn't even know it occurred until I tried to take the family into Toontown and it was blocked off with CMs telling guests that toontown was closed due to a "situation". It wasn't until I saw the helicopter hovering overhead and began to realize that the crowd seemed to be thinning pretty quick that I chose to do a little research.

On the topic of the CM being the culprit, my wife and I grew up going to Disneyland, but hadn't been in a few years due to me being stationed in other parts of the country. Once I was relocated back to Southern California about 8 months ago, we have been making it a point to go often and we have both openly commented on the noticeable decline in the quality of CMs. I have probably gone to the park five to six times in the last 8 months and, without exception, have had an experience with a CM that has just made me shake my head in disbelief on every trip. On one instance, it has even led to a complaint to management. this used to NEVER be the case one visits prior to our move. This is quite a alarming since I used to brag about how awesome CMs were. I hope this trend fades because my wife and I love to visit there and now love to bring our two daughters.

A million dollars for bail is insane.

Guess that's what happens when you mess with Walt's park, though I have a feeling the CM didn't do it on purpose.

I think he thought dry ice to be ice, so he put it in a drink to keep it cold. When it started reacting he probably freaked and threw it in a trash can

No. He knew what he was doing. ;) there was apparently a rash of dry ice bombs in Anaheim recently. He knew what he was doing. He probably just did not expect the bang to be that loud and his plan, pardon the pun, blew up in his face.

Those bombs out in the open sound like a 12 gauge going off. Imagine the concussive sound that was made from a metal trash can.

i dont think this was done maliciously it was probably a prank he put it in a trash can so that no one would get hurt i agree he should lose his job spend a night in jail and pay a fine but nothing ridiculous like a million dollar bail

I'm sure the runners in the Boston Marathon agree that setting off a bomb in a public area with kids around is just a funny prank.

a dry ice bomb is nothing like an actual bomb is just meant to make a lot of noise you put a few pieces of it in a 2 liter bottle and some water a seal it and it pops the bottle it makes a loud noise it doesnt have enough force to actually cause any physical harm it can only hurt your hearing if it is big enough

Actually they do have enough force to do damage, but they need to be constructed to do so. Dry ice in a Dasani bottle is not going to do it. Add failure seam and some metal shrapnel and you have the potential to cause some serious damage to a person. Bottom line, if you detonate any kind of bomb in a public place in this country, you are going to get raked over the coals big time.

He didn't say that it was funny. Only that the moron CM thought it was.

Pack nails and glass around that bottle (or use a glass bottle) and then repost that comment.

I kinda understand where you are coming from, but ultimately I think that's the wrong attitude. Intentionally causing harm is worse than accidentally causing harm under every system of law I know, and I think that's right. Put another way, if I found out the CM involved in this story had set out to raise awareness for melting ice caps or whatever, it wouldn't raise my opinion of him. I think the larger point to make to "the youth" is that being an idiot could result in just as much pain and misery as terrorism.

I didn't say which is worse, just which es me off more. I do think that terrorism is by far more evil and despicable, but it doesn't so much anger me as it does sadden me and make me want to see action happen in the world. This kind of thing just ticks me off because the motivation is trying to be funny or cool and not caring or knowing about the side effects.

Whats your point? You originally said that the dry ice bomb couldn't cause much damage. Of course you could do the same thing with fireworks. o_O

its not that hard 99.9% percent of the time they are intended just to be noise makers but if you want to do harm with them it is completely possible just like anything else in this world

There shouldn't be any percentage of the time...especially in a public place.

there cant ever be a 100% percent chance i was not saying the guy should have done it or that it was no big deal i was saying that it seemed to me that he wasnt doing it to harm anybody and that his bail shouldnt be a million dollars
