Micky and Minnie's House

Hello all,
I am a long time reader and decided it was time to join. I am not sure if this has already been discussed--if so by all means, this can be disregarded and it would be great if someone could direct me to it (if this is the case).

What will they do regarding Mickey and Minnie's homes as they tear down 'Toontown' (which still is upsetting to me)? Their houses have been such a staple to my family as we have been going to Disney several times a year, every year, since I can even remember. I now have 14 nieces and nephews all under the age of 15 that absolutely LOVE going to the Magic Kingdom to "see Mickey and Minnie’s house!!" It seems as though Disney is starting to steer away from their main staple, which is Mickey and Minnie, and are adding other things that, yes, have to do with Disney, but what about the two that truly represent the brand to the fullest? No harm behind this post, but curious if they will relocate or is it going to be gone indefinitely?

Thank you all and I am excited to get started here on the board!:king:

Thank you!

That's what I was thinking, maybe if they can't find a spot at the Magic Kingdom, then possibly Hollywood Studios.. like you said, wishful thinking!

I could also see it being worked in with Camp Minnie Mickey. Instead of being country homes, they could be cabins or something. There's a lot of possibilities.

Unfortunately, it looks like they'll be torn down and forgotten about. This is TDO after all. They practically had to be forced to do this expansion in the first place.

I know like many, I'm hoping they do something to save these.

I too like the idea about moving them over to DAK, and even wrote about it on my blog almost a year ago where they would be incorporated into Camp Minnie Mickey.

I think the MK houses are meant to be Mickey and Minnie's country homes, while their "real" homes are in the Disneyland Toontown. So they were never really their homes.

I would also love to see the houses relocated. On our trip in December we made a point to take one last walk through them and took plenty of pictures. Unfortunately, we left the camera on the plane by accident and lost those pictures. But we really enjoyed taking in all that was there. We made sure to take note of all the details. There was a whole lot going on in those homes.

That's fine and all, but those that go and visit Disney World (and not Disneyland, which could be once a year, every 2 years or several months out of the year... they always look forward to seeing their homes, whether they are "vacation homes" or not. Children don't know the difference all they see is that it IS Mickey and Minnie's house. There is no difference there when it comes to that.

Personally, being a Florida resident and only living an hour from the parks, enjoy Disney World more than Disneyland and would have liked to one day when I have children of my own, be able to show them Mickey and Minnie's home, vacation or not... in Orlando, FL.

now only if disney would listen to the fans not a sheet with numbers...:brick:

You're just as idiotic as almost everyone else on this forum!

Just because they don't do something that you fanboys want does not make them stupid. Don't ANY of you ever stop to THINK that even you fanboys do affects what appears on the "sheets with numbers"?! :brick:

After all, you can't always get what you want.

P.S.: CJR, you had all the nerve to ruin this thread even further with the slightest mention of TDO. STOP IT!

Where in DHS do you see the houses fitting in? I just can't make sense of it. But, I can't make much sense of DHS in general.

Animation courtyard area, maybe? I don't know. Honestly, they would be work better if they just reimagined the concept and built their country homes in a cabin style at Camp Minnie Mickey in AK. They could build the other homes meet and greet characters homes too.

I dont' know maybe because I don't have kids, but I always thourght the houses/boat were a waste of space... worse than a meet n greet... just a bunch of ceramic furniture shaped like mouse ears? I find the decor more amusing on the ceiling at the World of Disney

If you had kids...you would get it. They love it, it's really magical for them to be in the place that they truly believe to be where Mickey and Minnie sleep at night. And as a parent, you appreciate those spaces too. I have pictures from every trip of my kids next to Mickey's mailbox. I will be sad not to have those anymore, seeing their physical growth has been a fun memory in the scrapbook!

True. Remember this is Toontown Fair, not Toontown. Toontown fair is a temporary fair setup much like a county fair. When the land premiered as Mickey's Birthday land and later Mickey's Starland, it was always temporary.

they shuld defiantly go to DHS thats a good idea. now only if disney would listen to the fans not a sheet with numbers...:brick:

Putting the homes at DHS would defeat the purpose and mess up the storyline for why the characters are able to visit multiple parks at once. Mickey and the Gang can live at the Magic Kingdom (with houses you can visit or not, but either way, MK is the home community of the Fab 5.), Visit Epcot on Vacation, work at Hollywood Studios making movies (they are all movie stars after all, that's how we know them), and go to Safari and camp over at Animal Kingdom. Putting homes in their place of business would not make sense. Do you have a home on your company campus? It would be like that.

Exactly, I have photos as a child in the same spots! It was such a dream to go inside their homes and see everything they had going on in there. I don't have children right now, but I do have fourteen nieces and nephews all still at that age where they truly enjoy and can't wait to step inside their homes. When I do have children I would have loved to take them to see where Mickey and Minnie live! Like you said, it is really magical for them and such an amazing experience; Mickey and Minnie are some of the main characters of the Disney brand. My nieces went to MK in Decemeber and all she could talk about was Minnie Mouses house and cooking on her stove and sitting on her couch. She was ecstatic! out of all things she seen at Disney. She couldn't wait to show me pictures and explain it detail by detail.

I don't expect others to feel so strongly about the possibility of their homes being permanetly removed, but I just think about the memories I had as a child and all of those other children (and adults) out there that love this. What will be left of Mickey and the gang as they get rid of 'Toontown'? It's just something to think about...

My daughter loves their houses and is so upset they are not going to be there anymore, this comes along with many questions about their new living quarters and I have to be very creative with my answers, she's pretty with it for a 4 year old:) :(
