Micky and Minnie's House

I really think they're making a mistake tearing down Mickey and Minnie's homes. The kids LOVE them! I remember they were my favourite part of the trip when I was little. Its just so cool to see a place that looks like Mickey really lives there.

And personally I think the whole concept of their "real" houses are at DL while these are just their country homes is lame. That didn't stop them from building secondary "real" homes at Tokyo. I just wish we'd get a Toontown like DL's and TDL's. Instead we're getting a lame "storybook circus."

I thought when the Fantasyland Expansion was first announced that Mickey and Minnie's houses were going to be rebuilt/relocated to somewhere near the front of the park at MK? Maybe not,:(

EDIT:

"Mickey and Minnie’s houses will be moved to another area and some reports indicate that a new character area will be installed on Mainstreet."- From the following link when FE was first announced: http://web.me.com/jpegdesigns/Disney_World/Fantasyland_Expansion.html

Hello all,
I am a long time reader and decided it was time to join. I am not sure if this has already been discussed--if so by all means, this can be disregarded and it would be great if someone could direct me to it (if this is the case).

What will they do regarding Mickey and Minnie's homes as they tear down 'Toontown' (which still is upsetting to me)? Their houses have been such a staple to my family as we have been going to Disney several times a year, every year, since I can even remember. I now have 14 nieces and nephews all under the age of 15 that absolutely LOVE going to the Magic Kingdom to "see Mickey and Minnie’s house!!" It seems as though Disney is starting to steer away from their main staple, which is Mickey and Minnie, and are adding other things that, yes, have to do with Disney, but what about the two that truly represent the brand to the fullest? No harm behind this post, but curious if they will relocate or is it going to be gone indefinitely?

Thank you all and I am excited to get started here on the board!:king:

It's really hard to think that they would actually tear them down. I see them utilizing them somehow...backlot tour maybe? Althought they really wouldnt fit in there:veryconfu

Putting the homes at DHS would defeat the purpose and mess up the storyline for why the characters are able to visit multiple parks at once. Mickey and the Gang can live at the Magic Kingdom (with houses you can visit or not, but either way, MK is the home community of the Fab 5.), Visit Epcot on Vacation, work at Hollywood Studios making movies (they are all movie stars after all, that's how we know them), and go to Safari and camp over at Animal Kingdom. Putting homes in their place of business would not make sense. Do you have a home on your company campus? It would be like that.

Wow. Did you just make that up now, or is that the official storyline? Either way, that's actually quite genius. I would have never thought of coming up with a storyline for Mickey and the gang's presence at the different parks.

First, let me say I agree with those of you who are sad to see the houses go. They were cool for my 2 year old daughter to see and walk through. I'll admit they weren't anything spectacular, but neither will be what replaces them IMO. I think Disney should have found a way to keep them along with the new Dumbo and rethemed Barnstormer. Since the tents are staying and Pixie Hollow is dead, this land won't be as necessary as it once was when the expansion was first announced.

With that said, I also don't see it as a big deal that Mickey and Minnie won't have houses. They will continue to have a huge presence in all the parks and Toontown was already so tucked away that many missed it anyway. Moving the houses to another park wouldn't make much sense to me, as the MK should be their true home in WDW as others have stated. If you really need something to tell your kids just remind them that there's an empty suite in the Castle that recently became available. This way technically Mickey and Minnie are actually upgrading their homes!

Toontown has seen better days. The only other way to properly fix it would be to completely rebuild, but the FLE is good enough for me.

That's the official storyline. Makes sense...and although the homes are leaving, MK will forever been seen as where Mickey lives.

Animation courtyard area, maybe? I don't know. Honestly, they would be work better if they just reimagined the concept and built their country homes in a cabin style at Camp Minnie Mickey in AK. They could build the other homes meet and greet characters homes too.

Totally agree!

Where in DHS do you see the houses fitting in? I just can't make sense of it. But, I can't make much sense of DHS in general.

they could put them next to the biggest thing that doesn't fit in; the hat. lol

i really can't see them saving the houses to be honest. they're in dyre need of some tlc as it is. although, hopefully mouse surplus will get their paws on some of the stuff inside. fancy a mickey suit? or some cheese from the fridge? mickeys post box? i wouldn't say no to those!
