Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party

So guys.... I will be in the parks on November 23-30 and this will be my first time in the parks for any other time than summer time. My question is this, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party starts at 7 pm and ends at midnight starting nov 8 according to disneyworld.disney.go.com so if I DON'T have a ticket to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, will I be asked to leave the park at 7 even if I have my park admission ticket? It may sound like a dumb question but I need to know so I can know if i need to buy the additional ticket for MVMCP

I think everyone should go once and see for themselves!!! That goes for everything except, maybe, Tony's restaurant.
There will be fireworks. Whether or not you have a good view depends on where you stand. :) Everyone has their own preferences on that.

I avoid being far up, close to the castle, because you miss a lot. Standing down by the train station is another thing I don't like, because you're so far back. It's harder to get lost in the fireworks and I think you miss some of the lower stuff. Off to the left makes them seem off center to me.

I like to be right about at the end of Main Street, before the hub. I also like being slightly off to the right, so long as nothing (and I mean NOTHING) is obscuring my view.

Standing behind the castle is fine if you've seen the fireworks a lot and don't need the show. People often recommend it because it isn't crowded. But you miss all the stuff in front of the castle, have to turn around a lot to see everything (even during regular Wishes) and do not get the whole experience. I strongly advise NOT standing behind the castle, especially for newbies.

What about over at the Tomorrowland Terrace will you see the same fireworks and Castle display as normal? Will Tink come out ?

We love the parade and the show on the castle. Others don't like the free hot chocolate and cookies, but we loved them. If you don't make the party, they also have it snowing at the Osborne Family Lights in DHS nightly.

Really they do ? At the Osborne Lights ? I completely missed that both times I walked that area last year..:bawling:

They do it right before it starts and during the first little bit of time. You need to be standing in the area by the entrance to the Muppet area. Actually the best place to stand is right at the start of the street by the large street scene facing the globe. It snows in that first block.

I'm glad I just found this thread. I didn't realize that on the days they have this even you get kicked out of the park if you don't have a ticket for it. I just checked the day I was planning on doing MK, and sure enough, it's a show day. Now I'm not sure what to do. Was looking forward to seeing the fireworks show - as it's mine and my son's first visit there. I was able though to get a Fastpass+ priority viewing reservation the next day for Illuminations at Epcot, so will that make up for it? I'm also not sure if leaving at 7pm would give us enough time to do most of the thing we want - even though there are extra magic hours that morning.

Is it worth paying for the party just to be able to see the fireworks? Also, are all of the rides open in the park still during this? If so, are the lines a lot shorter during the party time? Not sure what to do now!

Seems to me like it would just be worth it to go ahead and get party tickets. Yes the rides are all open, and yes the lines are shorter bc the crowd is less. Oh, and illuminations has nothing on wishes.

Went to MVMCP last year and loved it! The crowd was very light the night we went. We had the best character interactions we have ever experienced, truly above and beyond, like Cap't Jack creating a story and song with my daughter and then acting it out, and Princess Tiana racing with her through Liberty Square and then giving her a private meet and greet. We rode several rides consecutively without getting off because there was no wait. Wishes was super and the parade was fantastic. My family thought the Snickerdoodles were excellent and enjoyed the apple slices too. For us, it was very much worth the cost. We made great memories.

Depends on how much you want to see the fireworks. I wouldn't buy a ticket just for that. IMO, regular Wishes is better.

No, all of the rides aren't open. But some are. :)

The lines are usually much shorter than normal. On Sold Out nights, all bets are off.

Good luck with your decision!

Well, I am buying them for the Friday nite before Thanksgiving, I think you have to do that the day of or something I haven't been able to click on that day online yet as an option but I did purchase them already for Dec 1st for me and my grandkids so I am really excited about seeing it too!

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.

Dissenting opinion here.
The music at IllumiNations trumps Jiminy Cricket, hands down. There is something almost tribal about it that resonates on a more mature level. I've outgrown Wishes. The narration and music used to make me get all teary-eyed. Now, after repeated viewings, it just seems juvenile.
And on a slightly different, but related note, I finally saw MSEP for the first time last month. I absolutely weep for the loss of SpectroMagic.

I still get the teary eyed sensation every time I even hear the wishes soundtrack... It's my favorite, next to Fantasmic, followed by illuminations (which I have only seen once).. Now don't get me wrong, I loved illuminations... It just wasnt as there for me if that makes sense

Yep, makes sense. I feel that way about Fantasmic!
And that's why we're lucky that Disney offers a number of different night time shows. Can't wait to see the show being added to DAK.
Just between us, I hate (okay, really, really dislike) EVERY SINGLE afternoon show/parade. The only bonus is that they pull a couple of thousand people out of ride queues for a while.

Yessss!!! I actually get to do SOMETHING related to Christmas on this trip
It's less Christmas and more Winter. The castle lights look like icicles. I've never seen the lighting ceremony, but the castle looks pretty with them. :)

I'm not trying to rain on your parade - just don't want you to be disappointed.

You will love this. It is very Christmas. You can look on the Disney site under Wishes to see the Christmas songs they play during the show. We didn't make it last year, but we did year before last, and this was one of the highlights. I'm not sure if the Christmas version is only during the Christmas party or not. We'll be there in 20 days. I'll let you know.
