Mickey's Toontown Fair Closing

We'll miss it, for sure. My son loved seeing Minnie and Mickey's houses. We've got another boy now, and I'm doubting that this expansion is going to be terribly appealing to either.

If only they'd build Radiator Springs somewhere...

True that. I can't believe all this fairy crap is taking over all of this space and still no Radiator Springs. Our family of boys will probably never even enter the FLE area. Belle who? Ariel what? Seems a bit one-sided. I can't believe they're pouring so much into a completely girl-themed place. Sorry, I don't see a group of boys begging to visit princesses or fairies anytime soon. At least Cars had Sally and Lightning McQueen!

The Cinderella meet will give boys a chance to be knights. The Belle meet has a kid performance aspect where boys can act out the Beast's role. And TLM should be a just plain fun ride that anybody can enjoy.

I agree that the expansion will appeal mainly to girls, but they seem to be making a real effort to include boys from what I've seen. Just like Cars might have some feminine aspects, these "princess meets" seem to have some masculine factors involved.

I'm not in love with this expansion (most of it seems too kid-centric for me to get juiced personally), but they do seem to have the right ideas for implementing what they're doing. We'll see how it all pans out.

I really, really, wish they were building a Toon Town similar to the one in DL instead of replacing it with a stupid fairy land based off of a failing franchise.

Failing only in your own uneducated opinion, but it's been high quality and a one of the company's biggest money-makers to date!

I am a father of two little girls who LOVE the princesses and I think the FL expansion has to much for girls. I think that a expanded circus feel with a radiator springs cars land would do better than Pixie hollow. I can see my kids climbing through tires out front of Luigis tire store and getting wet under the statue of Stanley. (I think I see a new thread coming on:lookaroun).

I'm sorry if this has already been asked, but I just didn't have time to read through the entire thread right now.....why are they closing it? I always enjoy going to the that part of the MK and so does my son! I will always have a very special memory of my son's first roller coaster and how happy he was that he got to ride a "big boy ride" and how he rode Goofy's Barnstormer over and over and over again :) I also like the fact that there's a little playground there and you can just sit and relax for a little while while the kids still get to play and have fun. Makes me a little sad. So, it was mentioned that they're closing it in September, right?

Ok, missingdisney,
Suits yourself. But I wonder what would happen if a group of boys find out that the Castle at the heart of the Magic Kingdom Park is named and themed after one of the princesses?
Educate them on that and give the boys time. I wonder if Those little boys will probably end up opening up to at least one of the princesses,
at least Cinderella Specifically, eventually.
The Magic Kingdom would not be the Magic Kingdom without The Princesses, Or The Fairies. Actually, In a way, I sort of wish that the Disney People would move the Fairies to a place in Animal Kingdom. The scenery in Animal Kingdom would just fit them almost naturally.

If you raise your boys to be so chauvinistic as to not see the value of females then therein lies the problem.

I totally agree. I have boys and girls and my boy is VERY familiar with the princesses and fairies. He watches the movies with his sisters just as much as he watches toy story. And if you look at MK as a whole, it is VERY BOY THEMED. Adventureland? Tomorrowland? all of it. Hardly a girl thing there. Everything is completely boy or gender neutral. Meanwhile, girls have to go to some hidden places to see their princesses. We went to see the princesses at the Judges tent once and my son spent just as much time with them as my daughter. They are characters brought to life. That amazes any gender.

As far as TTF, Im happy to see it go. MK needed upgrades. Badly. TTF did have a temporary, hole in the wall feel to it. It's cramped and small with nothing to really DO while back there. Yeah, it would have been nice to see the DL version fully here. I'll give it some cool points, definitely, but to say they should uproot the train tracks!??! Do you know what that would take?! They would have to completely redo almost ALL of the tracks in order to make it a smoot curve around as if it had always been there. If you've ever played with a train set, you'd know you cant just simply take a small straight piece and replace it with a couple curves. You have to redo a huge section.

I also agree on the meet and greets. You can see Mickey and Minnie in SO MANY PLACES. Those two have outfits for every single area of vacation kingdom. lol

I think the new idea will be wonderful and it's awesome that they are including the boys. And if you let your boys watch the "girl" movies, I'm sure they'd enjoy them, too.

And just up the way is a race track with cars your boys can drive.

I'm glad to see it go. Wasted space as far as I'm concerned. I think Radiator springs would be really fun. Roger Rabbit is certainly not my pick for anything, my kids have no clue who he is. I have a boy and a girl, and the fairy thing just doesnt do much for either of them..but to be honest they are old enough to want more thrill rides than meet and greets.

While I think that it will be good to have the expansion in the park instead of the failing Toontown "Fair", I think that Toontown should at least be represented somewhere in the park, it won't feel the same I guess.

I would just have preferred them to keep Toontown and just take PH and Dumbo out of the expansion, but then I would just be nit-picking what I like and what I don't. As it is now, I'll have to see how the MK feels without any Toontown to really have an opinion on the subject. As of right now, bring on the expansion!

And so now gender defines if you like Fantasyland or not? I'm a guy, and frankly that is the best part of the parks for me. I could stay there all day, I love the feel of it! But at the same time, if you are going to Disneyworld at all, you should be at least familiar with one of the princesses on display in FLE. I mean, the castle IS Cinderella's, right? And how is Gaston's pub female-themed?
