So this will be our first trip to the MNSSHP, and I was wondering if anyone could offer any wisdom on where the best views for the Halloween parade , and Hallowishes are. Also, do you get to trick or treat at each attraction or just in the stores. If anyone could give me any tips it would be much appreciated. My four year old is so excited, and I want to make sure we don't miss out on anything. We go once a year usually, and this is the first year we are going twice.:)

the trick or treat spots are all over the parks, they also have dance parties where the characters will dance with the little ones. I know when I went in the queue for some rides they would also hand out candy. As far as the parade and wishes, I would say if you have a spot that you normally used for Spectro and Wishes I would stick with them. Somewhere with a straight on shot of the castle would be best for Hallowishes.

Its a lot of fun, they will hand you a park map just for MNSSHP that will have all the trick or treat spots and all the other added fun just for the party.

Thanks! My Aunt and I were talking and we figured the parade had to come out the same way. I also wonder do a lot of adults dress up, and is there a big difference going to it at the beginning of the month than going the weekend of Halloween or closer to it?

Before I chime in with some of my insights, here is what Steve has compiled on the site concerning the Magic Kingdom's Not So Scary Halloween Party.

I visited WDW in 2007 an attended my first Halloween party. Quite impressed but for first part of the evening/night it rained off and on. Still had a blast since I was at WDW and it was nearly 90 in late October.

I caught the second parade in Frontierland (minus headless horseman because of the rain). Was standing next to a park guest who was dressed as Mary Poppins, with a wool longcoat, hat and gloves -- still in the 80s.

Lots and lots dressed up from small kids to adult kids. Me? T-shirt and shorts. Orange shirt with glow-in-dark sleleton that said "I'm scared." If I do visit again in October for Hallowishes, I'm dressing up as Otis T. Wren, Emil Bleehall or Hathaway Brown from the recently closed Adventurers Club (Pleasure Island).

I caught Hallowishes fireworks from near the Tomorrowland bridge near the castle. Great view.

Filled up my bag of candy at a lot of trick or treat spots, including the Alice in Wonderland trail that lead from Toontown to the backside of Space Mountain. That might not be possible with the Fantasyland expansion project underway.

Make sure you take a listen to the Cadaver Dans in Liberty Sqaure / Frontierland as well as spot the Liberty Belle riverboat captain, Capt. Dee Kay.

Enjoy!

Our favorite spot for viewing the fireworks is in on the bridge connecting Main Street USA and Tomorrowland! We usually sit on curb close to there for the "Boo to you" parade. It's so much fun!!! For trick or treating....They have specific spots marked on a special park map that they will give you when you enter for the party. They also give you little trick or treat bags to use! We are going again this year when we go towards the end of Oct. :sohappy:

You will get a TON of candy. Even without the map you will easily find the locations of the candy. They are everywhere. MNSSHP is my favorite event at Disney. The theming is fantastic. I'm just hoping for a nice night this year when we go (28th) and no rain! My kids both dressed up last time we went but we didn't. I saw a lot of adults dressed up so either way would be good. This year I doubt that my daughter will dress up. She's twelve and thinks that it's for little kids. We just want to go because of the theming and being able to ride the rides easier. While everyone else is getting candy we plan on riding. Have fun!!

I know the theme is MNSSHP, but do they ever do little scary things for the adults. This may be a dumb question, but thought I'd ask?

Disney's party is all fun and no scary. I have never been but heard from a friend that the halloween party at universal is geared more for teens and adults as it scarier (sp?).

yeah if you want scary go to Universal. MNSSHP is really about fun and celebrating Halloween. Now the HM gets really into the Halloween theme and the CMs do a really good job, and as mentioned before the captain of the Liberty Belle gets really into it and that end of the park with the lights can be kind of eerie.

Does anyone know why the 8th October is not available for the pre purchase discount??

Is it because of the columbus day holiday??

Does this mean the party will be a lot busier this day??

Thanks

Just a little extra tidbit, later in the evening there are extra "secret" treat locations that are marked with an "X" lamp post that give away candy. You can ask a cast member where they will be. My kids got a TON of candy. We brought reusable shopping bags I bought at the Disney Store and came home with each of them filled about 3/4 full. It was ridiculous. We almost went over our weight limits on the suitcases because of it! Have a great time and don't miss the Headless Horseman as he makes his way about 10 minutes BEFORE the parade starts.

At our first MNSSHP my kids were 3 and 4, you can see our picture in my avatar. There was a TON of candy and nothing that scared our kids, execpt the Edd the hyneia from Lion King in the parade that jump right in front of us and made my DD 3 JUMP! DH and I just laughed and she was fine a second later. We stayed till the end even though our kids were asleep and were given entired bags of filled candy. This was in 2007 on a week night crowds were so light and it was very warm 80's even at night. In Oct of 08 we went back on a Friday night and they were not generous withcandy. The crowds were MUCH MUCH heavier and again very warm. The ticket prices were also so more that year and we were bummed about all of the long(er) waits and less candy. My kids love the parade so much we watched both and they still tell people about the grave diggers and thier sparkle (sparks from the shovles they dance with). Enjoy and dress up, I wish we would have! Many Many adults did and there were some clever family costumes. My favorite was the dalmation family where Mom and Dad and the kids were puppies and Grandma was Cruella. My family should do that, we already have a litter!:p

Aww! I love their little costumes.

It's sad to hear that Friday was so crowded, because we are planning to go on a Friday, and to hear that its hot. It is Florida so I guess I should have known that. I'm sure it will make it harder to dress them. I don't want them to heat to death. Oh well I won't let it get me down. I'll just have to get creative. We are more interested in seeing Hallowishes, trickortreating, and not to forget the parade. I'm excited to see the Headless Horseman! We will just ride the rides the other days we are there.

Thanks, the crowds could have been freak don't stress on that. As for the weather, October is still hot in FL. Here in KY by Oct the nights are cooler. My Buzz was fine in his costume and Minnie didn't complain either, might have been the only time that week they didn't belly ache about the heat:) ENJOY your Party, crowds or heat it is still a blast. Thoose nights are Magical!

BTW we got in both years at 4.00...

My son wants to be a gravedigger from the Haunted Mansion parade. Has anyone had any experience with full costumes in the park! I hear its hot, but would it be bearable at night.

I think it would be bearable.....once the sun went down it wasn't terribly hot, from what I remember. I know some go as Captain Jack, with wig and all, so if they can do it, it can't be to bad. But I still would go as light as possible on the layers.

Thats good to hear...Hes 4 and I tried to get him to be something else, but he wasn't having it. He loves the sparks that the gravediggers made come off the ground, and his favorite ride is the Haunted Mansion So...of course he wants tobe themed for the haunted mansion.
