Don't blame the new animation. It doesn't have this tripe of a soundtrack and horribly... I don't know what to call it... storyboarding? Cut-and-paste GIFing? Decharmification?... that the shorts have. They could have put classic Mickey in with clips that go forward and backward and it would have been just as bad.

Here's a critique of the 'music'...

And the guy saying, "All my fellas is ready" and the girls saying, "All my ladies are wi' me", besides being bad grammar and rhyming, is so.... unwoke.

Really, Disney, you need a guy to round up the guys and a gal to round up the gals? Are we in some Ancient Near Eastern culture where the men and women have to dance on the opposites sides of the dance floor? Is this a Junior High prom? We all just can't dance as a group of people without this unneeded division?

Yeah, I know it's not a big thing, but, <checking watch>, it's almost the third decade of the 21st century.

First, what? Second, what? So... no drama and going to find love. At a big everyone-join-in-dance-party with your family there party? Did they think that this song was going to be played at a singles bar?​

I got the DJ spinnin’ and it’s fillin’ the room​
If it’s me and you chillin’ it’s a trip to the moon ​
Well, it rhymes properly. But who uses the metaphor of traveling to the moon anymore to signify ecstasy? Sure, in past generations, one could be 'over the moon' since going to the moon was exotic fantasy. But in the Space Age... going to the moon is rather mundane, if you excuse the irony of that phrase.​

Let me break down the rhyme scheme in this section:
To the east, yeah​
Rock it to the west, yeah​
Celebrate, yeah​
Party with the best, yeah​
Everybody getcha ears on!​
It's a good, good, good, good time​

That's A B C B D E. 🙄


This is like it was written by a committee of old white men trying to sound hip.

I never minded the look of the Mickey shorts, but coupled with this music it makes me feel like barfing.
