Mickey's Halloween Party - Adults

My DH and I will be at WDW in late October (8th trip, first in October). Should we get tickets for Mickey's Halloween Party if it is just 2 of us? Is this an activity geared more towards families with kids?

Went in 2005 and liked it better then the Xmas party. I loved the way the headless horseman rides through the park before the parade and the gravediggers drill team was excellent.

My wife and I attended MNSSHP last Oct. 07 without children. We had a great time. No waiting in line for our favorite rides, fantastic parade and fireworks. We went through the candy lines and left with a bag full of goodies, especially Kissables by Hershey. Of course, we enjoyed seeing all the children dress in outfits, running around to their favorites:ROFLOL::sohappy:

Absolutely!! My DH and I went last year and it was so fun! The DH went as Doctor - and I as Mary Poppins. He was very hesitant b/c he didn't know how many other people would be dressed up. And once we got in, his mind was put to ease b/c everyone was dressed up! It was a lot of fun!

DH & I went last Sept. (child in college) and we had a blast. It was a last minute decision as we walked into MK to get tickets & I'm glad we did!! Loved the Boo To You parade, just make sure you are there at the beginning to see the headless horseman, it sets the tone for the rest of the parade. If you love the villains they do a meet & greet, which is fantastic! They have special pins, shirts, etc just for the evening. While DH went to get something to drink I watched the kids at the dance party dancing around w/different characters. I had a good laugh listening to the DJ talk to the the kids. We are going to the MVMCP this year & wish I could get the time & $$ to do that & MNSSHP. It is worth experiencing it at least once, even if you just buy MNSSHP tickets & go in at 4pm, you'll get MK & the party for the price of one.

My DH & I went for the 2nd time this year (we went on 2005) and it's always a great time. The 1st year we didn't dress up but this year we went as soccer players from our favorite Premier League teams (Man U for DH & Chelsea for me). They were easy costumes to pack and not too costume-y or uncomfortable to wear. Our first year we bought tickets day of b/c we weren't sure it was something we would do w/o kids, but it was well worth it and we'll go every chance we can!!! The parade and fireworks are awesome, the crowds are great and it's just festive & fun!:sohappy::sohappy::sohappy:

Thanks to all who posted their recommendations about MNSSHP, especially the pictures! You have convinced me that we should go, and we are getting our tickets to attend on 10/30! Now we just have to figure out what costumes to wear!:)

How does disney regulate the guests that have regular day tickets and guests that have MNSSHP tickets?
Guests with MNSSHP tickets will be given wristbands. Guest without them will not be allowed on attractions and will be politely asked to exit the park. They will also set up check points around the hub the round up any stranglers.

I am also going to be a voice of dissent here... I would skip it, BUT there are several things that just don't matter SO much to me:
1) characters in costumes (characters by themselves are fun enough for me)
2) parades (can take 'em or leave 'em)
3) fireworks (I DO like fireworks, but wasn't sure that I felt like the MNSSHP ones were super-special)

Take those out, and you're really just left with spending $50 for candy and--hopefully--short lines.

After doing it last year (and, admittedly, being pretty well rained out), we decided that the money could be better spent elsewhere (Cirque de Soliel, park hopper option, water park option, etc.).

The "good" thing about being rained out was that Disney made those MNSSHP tickets good for admission to MK for one day with 1 year expiration.

I guess I should clarify what I mean by "rained out"... It rained--poured--for several hours shortly after MNSSHP started. We did a lot of hanging out in Cosmic Rays. It DID eventually let up, and we saw the parade and fireworks...

As I said, for the money, it just wasn't worth it for us...

Personally I would just buy a ticket to the party and use that as my admission for that day. It's cheaper than a regular day pass, and you can get in at 4 o'clock. It's a nice value.

And as for the party, I've never been, but I've heard great things.

This is exactly what we did. It was a bargain! There were no lines to speak of. We walked on everything! We saw more from 4-10 than we usually do in a full day at the parks. And we did it at a discount!

We got in line to get a picture in front of Cinderellas's glass carriage and the people behind us did not have a wristband (it was 6:50pm). At 7pm the announcement came over the park that said something about the start of the MNSSHP. The lady behind us thought she had to leave and the CM told her no, she was in line before 7 and not to worry about it -just go ahead and get her picture before leaving the park.

Later on that night we got our picture taken with Snow White and all 7 dwarfs!! How often does that happen??:sohappy:

The original question was whether the event is appropriate for adults without children, if I remember correctly, and I'd say it definitely is.

But the adults have to be people who like the Magic Kingdom!

See, here's the thing. My wife and I went on Sunday night and the park was not crowded at all. We were able to walk on or in to any ride that was open and that we wanted to experience. We could very easily have gotten a full dose of rides in a single evening for a discounted rate of $50. How sweet is that?

Second, I love the Magic Kingdom at night. Night has always been my favorite time to be in that park, even when I was a little kid. They have all sorts of mood lighting going on for the event and I took pictures of things I've never seen in the Magic Kingdom. They also had mood music you never hear any other time in the Magic Kingdom, and that was another plus for me.

There were plenty of adults watching the fireworks and the parade, so that's no problem either.

There is really no reason to feel out of place going to the night time event without putting on a halloween costume or bringing a child along.

Have fun!

* We have two older teenagers who were with us for part of the night and who went by themselves for the rest of the time, because they decided they'd rather go on rides during the fireworks and the parades, while my wife and I enjoyed watching the parades, fireworks and the show in front of the castle for the part of the time when we weren't enjoying walking onto Pirates, Haunted Mansion and other classic Magic Kingdom attractions. :D
