Boy... I said it before, I'll say it again, Mickey, Minnie and even Daisy Duck have this weird, alternate universe, edgy look. In the last scene, are their noses set off to the side of their faces?
That said, the scenes are neat.

I love the art style. Does it occasionally go too far? Yes. But otherwise it is a good call back to the original art style with sticker book mixed in there. I think. :)
I'm not saying people can't personally enjoy the style, but it is an aesthetically unpleasant and offensive design. Look how pleasant and smooth this older art of Mickey that the new Mickey pays homage.

Then look at the new Mickey.

It really only takes one look to see the newer design is a lesser product. It's not as welcoming or kind. It's jagged and incomplete in parts. Look at the way the shorts form a corner, or the way the tail is jagged like lightning, or even the sausages attacked to the circle of his palm. They're all vastly different from the smoother, calmer design of old Mickey.

Not to rehash this old gem of a topic. But I personally think the new Mickey shorts show the characters as being more expressive. And I've said it before but I also think they are more an homage to the Iwerks style of drawing. To me and many others they are not unpleasant or offensive.

Anyways everyone can enjoy any style of Mickey they like. I for one am just happy that Mickey and the Gang now have an attraction of their own, and soon coming to DLR. To which I think we can all agree.

Its use of projections is fairly well done, but its biggest hinderance will always be how ugly this new Mickey art style is.
Although I’m not a fan of the new cartoons, I think it works well for this ride. But, yes, I’d rather they’d gone with something more classic. The disconnect when the walk-around characters pose for publicity shots is kind of jarring.

Here’s a POV of the full ride

Pros:
Great concept.
Love the preshow.
Beautiful use of color.
Genuinely funny.
Transition in and out of “waterfall” chamber is perfect.
The train itself is a brilliant use of trackless system.
Projections effective throughout except (see cons)

Cons:
The projections onto the 3D modeled Mickey & Minnie just look weird, like a couple of sofa pillows brought freakishly to life.
The transition from Wild West to carnival makes no sense—not even in cartoon logic.
Why does the tornado sign suddenly come to life? (Again, even in a cartoon, there should be some narrative reason.)
Nothing happens in the Wild West room.
The ride system has trouble giving every guest an equal experience in the various sections. And no, Imagineers, that’s not a plus. Different shouldn’t mean lesser. It does hurt the storytelling.

Overall:
Wonderful. Seriously, what a fun, charming, imaginative ride!!! Bravo, Imagineers!!!

Since the attraction just opened at Walt Disney World today. Can we all set our differences aside and please take a moment to remember that this attraction will mark Russi Taylor's finale performance as Minnie Mouse. Here's a photo that Elyse Willis shared after the news broke of her passing. This photo shows Elyse Willis (co-writer of "Carried Away") with Russi Taylor during a recording session for the attraction taken sometime last year.

And here's a short video of Russi performing as Huey, Dewey, and Louie at a special D23 event.

Whoever is chosen to voice Minnie Mouse in the future has big shoes to fill.

The new Mickey and Minnie has the emoji style and moves further to the anime aesthetic. The attraction is very much in the spirit of Toontown's Roger Rabbit. More wacky and less buttoned down. Perhaps it's time to update Philharmagic to the same design.

Or just take that extra step and turn it into Roger Rabbit.

Another site posted the full “Vacation Fun” clip show cartoon. It has some good laughs, but also demonstrates everything awful about the new style (Mickey is an idiotic, hyperactive shrieking jerk in these cartoons). And, holy cow, what an awful, sell-out, cynical ending.

Really glad the ride is better than this.
