Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway - Disneyland

I would definitely like to explore more outside the Disney bubble in Florida but I would probably not bring a car because I would probably just fly to Florida instead of driving all the way from California so it might be a little more difficult but still definitely possible. And yes I would definitely like to try Florida to get away for a little and see what it's like down there, outside of California. I probably wouldn't move down there, there's always a chance I would, but on my current career path I am most likely staying local but obviously people's career paths change a lot from what they plan. It's all a matter of just trying to do what I want and see where that goes.
When I was a cp there was a Busch Gardens bus that picked up within walking distance of the different apartment complexes. If you had an AP it was free. I saw a lot of the Tampa area because of it. The park is cool too, I wish we still had one out here

Lies! You'd have to get off the highway to go through Branson!

Incidentally, if anyone DOES find themselves in Branson, make sure you check out Silver Dollar City, a fantastic and super underrated theme park that is one of my favorites. It's a bit like Knott's but hilly and with a cave tour.

I made the drive LA to Alabama and back. I thought it would be like a National Geographic documentary. It was just lots of boring desert.
I was sick of all my music half way across Texas. I did stop in Vicksburg and do cool Civil War stuff.

I'd spend a month at a time in Cocoa Beach for launches. The place reminds me of California in the 50's. Just not the property values that are out here. Great seafood. Very humid and rainy in summer. LOTS of bugs. We don't know how blessed we are to not have mosquitoes in CA.

I have not seen Shoji, but a lot of the critiques made in that video could be made about virtually all entertainment in Branson. That is *precisely* what over 90% of Branson entertainment is like.

When I go to Branson, I go directly to Silver Dollar City and ignore everything else.

I would love to do a road trip from LA to Florida. It just feels like the drive from LA to Texas would be super boring. I don’t think it would start getting interesting for me until Texas (mostly for some good BBQ) and Louisiana. I would I definitely want to do a little detour through Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia. Maybe even Charleston, South Carolina.

What was the drive like through Louisiana and the Southern States? Is the desert you are referring to mostly Arizona, New Mexico and Texas?

I think in my ideal road trip, I would fly to New Orleans, rent a car and explore it/ Louisiana and most of the other Southern States and end up at WDW. Then fly back.

I ended up doing the same thing when I took my brother to NOLA for Mardi Gras as a 21st birthday present a few years back. I didn't want to rent a car and there's nothing else to do in the state without one so we took Megabus all the way to Orlando. 10 bus ride but Megabus is a lot nicer than Greyhound I would soon find out.

It was a cool change of scenery from Cali as there were trees sitting in swamps going on forever. Anything is better than highway 5 I suppose.

That’s sounds fun. There’s also something to be said for the fact that I would be seeking out good food, landmarks and parks and not just taking the fastest way to WDW. It’s the difference of taking the 5 to San Francisco or the PCH.

Do you guys call it the 5? We call it I5 here. I5 is about 10 minutes from my house and takes you all the way to the DLR turn off with no turns the entire way.

Branson is nuts. My high school band took a field trip and we played there. Thought it was funny how every single show has a "salute to our troops" part.

I don't really care for Branson and its brutally hot and humid climate, and it was certainly out of the way. But it was absolutely worth it to see a portion of Titanic (And I mean a portion--see profile photos) with splashing water effects, little "forced perspective" lifeboats and a questionable but ultimately charming iceberg. As it came in to view as I was driving up, I felt like I was approaching the pearly gates despite the awful climate. Walt Disney would be proud.
