Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party 2024

I agree with others that the after hours events whether paid or free like Moonlight
Magic are so overbooked / oversold now that it seems like just a relatively uncrowded normal night at the park, not as empty as it “should” feel for being a special event.

Here in central Florida we don’t really get much of a fall anyway, but early August is a little ridiculous. It will still be 95+ during the day and maybe 85-90 when the parties start in the evening just too hot to really enjoy in my opinion.

The reality to the early parks is yes it is early. It is closer to memorial day then halloween. And while I doubt families like mine are the reason why Disney did this, I can't say I don't appreciate that it is early. The last time I got to go to a halloween party was in 2012. The next year my son started kindergarten. School in the south starts early. I am also in a district that has fairly strict truancy rules, So pulling the kids out for a disney vacation during school is generally not easy. You need permission from the school to do it or if you are gone for more than three days in a row they will bring you to court.

So this is the first time in many years we have had the opportunity to allow my daughter to experience what her brother did.

I guess I really don't understand all the negativity. What does it really cost anybody? Plenty of people in my area start decorating their house in fall decor towards the beginning of August when school starts, so maybe it is just not a strange concept to me?
Because it severely impacts all the other guests who don't shell out extra money for melted chocolate.

Severely?

Say “I haven’t visited the parks in August during Party season” without saying “I haven’t visited the parks in August during Party season.”

And the Christmas Parties start closer to Halloween than Christmas and most people put up their Christmas trees closer to Thanksgiving than Christmas. I love this game. We should have an elected committee to determine when people can celebrate holidays and fine anyone who doesn’t follow this standard.

We were the talk of the family when we had our all our Christmas stuff up before Thanksgiving last year. First on the block!

Oh, I have...and it irritates me every. single. time. When you don't take 8+ day vacations, every party night is impactful.

I actually left one Christmas ornament out when I put away everything else this year to see if anyone would notice…

Surprisingly, it makes me happy to see and I haven’t been burned at the stake yet. There’s still time, though. People get really upset around Christmas in July, again.

Perhaps they should go back to the olden days and just close MK to everyone at 7 pm when crowd levels are where they are in August nowadays. Remember when fireworks were only on “special nights” in the Magical ‘90s?

Hey, the "Burning People At The Stake For Leaving Christmas Ornaments Up" committee takes time to get to everyone. Yours is coming. *Checks clipboard* Oh yes... But first - They have to attend the August 9 MNSSHP.

Does anyone know if Port Orleans French Quarter qualifies as a Select Disney World Resort that guests staying with reservations can purchase party tickets on May 8th?

I do think it starts way too early... but the alternative is them booking more nights in September/October to consolidate the event closer, reducing park hours for regular guests during those months even further.

HHN/Halloween is my favorite holiday, but anything before memorial weekend to me is just too much. Seeing pumpkins last year in Main Street mid-July is just jarring.

I think a fair solution is if Disney can figure out a way to increase capacity at the parties, while reducing the need for so many nights.

I’m sorry, but the Descendants songs are BOPS! I’ll be sporting my “Chillin’ Like a Villain” tank top…that’s the most I can do in August heat!
If you're going as a Descendants villain, don't forget to practice jumping up on restaurant tables at which people are eating and kick their food while you lip sync your villain-anthem. That's *evil*!

I dunno but I had A.S.S. (Disney and their acronyms, sigh. . .) in the shopping cart a while for the week of 10/27. I finally bit the bullet and made the reservation. Will apply discounts to it later. I guess I'll find out on 5/8.

EDIT: Based on the link at the page below, "Disney Resorts Collection hotels" is all WDW on-site resorts.

I'm sending into Disney my recommendation that they start the Halloween parties later in the year and just make all of October a Halloween party every night of the week. That would solve the 'too early' problem!!

I don't understand people getting annoyed by the early starts. If it's too early for you, book a party closer to Halloween and move on with your life.

The bigger concern for me would be the fact that a lot of people who don't live here aren't aware that August and the first part of September is the rainy season here and it's likely to rain on many of these nights, resulting in canceled shows, parades, and poor visibility for the fireworks.

Every year I see a lot of angry posts from people here and elsewhere from people who are unaware of central Florida's weather patterns that time of year.
