It’s our best parade...why replace it? As long as they keep refreshing it like they do every couple of years to keep it fresh why mess with something that works so well?
Far inferior shows and parades have had much longer runs.
You know enough to know Tokyo’s entertainment refresh schedule for seasonal offerings. WDW should match that

It's still a shame that an attraction, such as Stitch, sits forlorn and gathering dust. It would still make for a change of pace and lots of children enjoyed it. Disney should close it down when they're actually going to accomplish something with that space.

On the surveys that WDW takes of guests, the MK got lower scores when Stitch was closed than when it was open. So in SGE's case, nothing was quite literally better than something.

An example WDW listening to guests. And surveys working (and not constructed by marketing to get the answers they want as conspiracy theorists claim -- just check out WDW's help-wanteds for high-power data analysists -- Disney wouldn't put that money out for a sham survey).

How do we know most were close to selling out? Either they announce it sold out or they don't.

As for why the complaints are worse, maybe Disney has increased how many tickets they sell?

Obviously not the same as attending, but watching some live vlogs, and videos, the crowds seem pretty high to me. Doesn't look like a lot of fun in that regard.

Let's start in July then? Why not? People would go, right?

August is ridiculous. I'm sorry people can't see that. I'm certainly not telling anyone not to go or have fun, but it's summer. It isn't fall. If that's what you want to do, fine. I don't understand why anyone lets complaining bother them? If you enjoy it, that's great. I'm not begrudging you. But I still think it's dumb and will say so. I also don't need to know they're making money off of them. Duh, that's why they're doing it. I don't fault Disney.

People are complaining for a reason.

So if it makes so much sense to do parties in August, why does Disneyland start theirs a month later? Why isn't Universal offering Horror Nights in August? I want to go to a HHN right now. Why can't I?

I think lots of people would go, but closing MK early in July for several nights would be a bad idea IMO.

I'd probably go. They try something more low key at Disney Springs. Santa in a Hawaiian shirt, anyone?

I know people love these parties and will support them whenever they happen. You can support and still love the parties but also think it's stupid to have them in August.

WDW had Club Villain, ostensibly a Fall, Halloween-adjacent offering continue well into March.

A year round Halloween Land or Christmas Land would probably be successful. Not everyone can get to WDW in the Fall.

And it's not like Orlando's Fall is in October, anyway. And if there was a Disneyland in Brazil, Halloween there would be in the Spring.

They seem to have a successful formula so no reason to change.

Boo to You needs to go next (yes I realize it’s WDWs best parade but 15 years in enough)
Does anyone remember when Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party used to be very different? Even the Boo To You parade had a different soundtrack.

Before Hallowishes, they had a different fireworks show featuring a witch that would be on Cinderella Castle who would fly.

Wow that was rough.

That's apples and oranges - the funding structures of TDL are entirely different. That development and fabrication schedule is driven and paid for by OLC, not Disney. Could Disney match that sort of development schedule in the parks it owns? Sure. But it'd take basically jettisoning the rest of the company's financial obligations and the complex fiscal interdependence that can ripple through a company as large as Disney. OLC (and SSG in Shanghai) can operate more nimbly because they have fewer obligations to fund.

Parades aren't that expensive. Disney could easily refresh their seasonal domestic offerings every few years without any fiscal "ripples" as it's pocket change for them. They don't because guests don't care and will keep buying $100 party tickets regardless.

How much do you think a parade float costs? Reskin some. Rotate a new one in each year. I’m not talking about a $750M Eticket FFS

I attended the 8/24 party last night and have to say that I will probably never attend another. There were more people there last night than there were on Thursday. The lines for characters were 2+ hours long. Kind of a problem when the event is 5 hours long. We also wanted to burn up the rest of our snacks on the special treats that were available. We ate two of them and decided that dole whip was a better bet. The size of the treats was minuscule considering the $7 price tag. The oogie boogie merengue was so bitter that all 5 of us threw it out after a couple of bites. We then got the doom buggy treat. Same $7 for about half of a normal sized cupcake. I later saw the tart that was available and it was a hair larger than two half dollars stacked on top of each other.

There were good parts though. They were generous with the candy and most lines were short. We all liked the parade and stage show. How are Jack Skellington and Sally not a part of the parade. I had fun but I felt fleeced when it came what was provided for the price.

The smaller tart is for the dessert party.

Glad you had fun!

The interesting thing is that that park was open for 9 hours for day guests yesterday and 8 hours for party guests.

That’s approximately $14.08 per hour for day guests compared to approximately $9.99 per hour for party guests. The party guests receive enhanced entertainment, complimentary treats, and shorter wait times on most attractions. All for less money and unless the park is open later than 10pm for less money per hour than standard admission.

This is why I usually purchase party admission instead of a regular MK ticket.
