CNN means they have not gotten official news from the family or their rep, just from other news sources. They have just announced that it is official.

I would probably agree. His music influenced a generation, I've always been a fan since the early Jackson 5 days.

I had gotten home from work and when the LA times confirmed it on MSNBC, I was very upset when I heard the news.
