The Grove is not at all a themed experience.

I never said it was a themed experience, although one could argue that it is with the vintage looking trolley running through the place. What I did say is that the exterior architectural facades are themed, which gives the place a look very similar to a period theme park thoroughfare like Main Street or Buena Vista Street.

Did you really just say comparing the Grove and Farmers Market is the same as comparing Disneyland and California Adventure? How can you possibly say those comparisons are similar.

LOL. Really? You don't see any similarities between Disneyland and California Adventure that are comparable in a discussion?

Being themed means something is part of a themed experience. Facades using a pre-Modern design language doesn't make them themed.

The theme of the Grove is the same as the theme of Downtown Disney. The theme is vague disguising of chain stores in an attempt to make people feel better about spending money.

People always go on and on about the Grove. The Americana in Glendale is much nicer.

That's all I was trying to say before a couple of people decided go off the deep end. It's a nice place, but I've never been impressed with it. I've never been to The Americana, but I've heard it's better.

We have something similar up here in the Bay Area called Santana Row complete with a fake streetscape and high-end shops, but with a more European flair.

As much as I love the fan community, this prejudice against MBAs is pretty sad.

Where did you get your MBA? :D

I'm old. And I was in the business world for decades. Around the late 1990's the MBA community changed noticeably, and I have not met a single MBA under 50 who wasn't at least semi-pompous. And many of them are hysterically pompous and can only communicate in corporate psychobabble and trendy jargon. None were fun to be around, and very few added anything to the conversation or helped with the task at hand.

The negative MBA stereotype exists for a reason.

You said The Grove and Farmers Market are comparable, like DL and DCA. I disagreed. Disneyland and California are both theme parks, and yes, I agree they're comparable, unlike The Grove and Farmers Market. Your reasoning as to why the two are comparable made little sense. According to your logic, something like Target and In-N-Out are comparable because you can buy food and merchandise at both. Would you say Target and In-N-Out can be compared to each other?

The Grove and Farmers Market offer two vastly different products. Not exactly sure how you don't see that.

After doing some hard poking (HEY) I was able to confirm that the Marvel DCA project had been sidelined and is now back on track, as MiceAge said. Still don't have a projected timeline for it however.

Thanks for that!

I've always thought the conference room decisions that sideline, or delay, or cancel, or miniaturize, park projects like this would make for a fascinating business book.

Great! I'm a big Marvel fan and can't wait to see what Disney can do with a big E-ticket Marvel ride. Just hope it's more state of the art then the Iron Man Experience going into Hong Kong Disneyland.

Touring Plans now lists Haunted Mansion among the refurbs next year. While this is a good thing since it needs it, holy crap! It's like, what WILL be open?

Mansion does need some TLC, so it's nice to see it get a bit more time coming off the Holiday overlay. Don't be surprised if some additional plussing happens. I've heard the audio and lighting may get some much needed loving.

I just hope this Marvel project isn't really just one ride and a few meet & greets. That would be so disappointing.

Unfortunately, space will be the primary limiting factor for DLR's Marvel plans. I'm not expecting much more than one ride and some meet and greets.
