I see your point, but I go back and forth on that one. And as much as I miss the PeopleMover, It's been 20 years now since it closed and I'm ready to say goodbye to the abandoned tracks.

Tomorrowland's entrance corridor between the two buildings has had basically the exact same footprint since 1955. The buildings have been reskinned and remodeled three times over now, but the footprint and scale of the buildings has remained nearly constant for 59 years. If a fourth reskinning and remodeling of these buildings is now on the way, according to Miceage, then I have faith WDI can come up with something suitable while also removing the unused trackage hanging above.

This space has had the same basic dimensions in the 1955, 1967 and 1998 versions. Imagine a 21st century spaceport aesthetic applied to these dimensions.

The PeopleMover track for me belongs to a wider theme and aesthetic of TL, to a 60's 'TL on the move'. If the other aspects are gone, then at one point I would say goodbye to the PM track too. Every part of TL should work together, to strenghten the common theme. A PM running through a SW or spaceportland is pointless.

You can see the basic forms of the 1955 structures, with new "skins" being placed on the exteriors of them for '67. And then of course there's the brand-new PeopleMover tracks that have just been installed down the middle of the corridor.

Which brings us to our current mess of three different makeovers to the 1955 original structures.

If anything, I think it's time to reconsider those MASSIVE ficus trees that have taken over the entry flanks of the land. They now dwarf the buildings and help create the appearance of a massive wall and jumble as you peer into Tomorrowland off the Central Plaza. It's time to cut the ficus trees down and start again with a new entry statement for Tomorrowland.

I wonder when Disney will announce this project??? Miceage just said it was "approved" for "2014".

The way the MK Peoplemover track hugs the buildings in that front section is far superior, IMO. The DL Peoplemover is very in-your-face for an attraction that's been abandoned for so long.

So true. I loved that ride dearly back in the 20th century, but it's just time to say goodbye. After 20 years of abandonment, you have to let it go.

My issue is with removing them to open up the walkway. That means also removing the planters that surround the supports.

But to replace it with... we don't know. There are few, if any, entrances to lands with giant structures built right down the middle of the pathway... it doesn't turn the others into concrete jungles, nor did it particularly save this Tomorrowland from becoming one.

Agree regarding those now oversized ficus trees.
Either replant with smaller specimens, or uproot and remove.

I am usually against removing greenery and trees, but in the case of the entryway to DLs Tomorowland i make an exception.

Am I the only one that doesn't think this looks not so bad? Sure the astro orbiter could stand to go but otherwise its quite attractive and the trees give it the forest feel I like so much about Disneyland. Tearing them down would make it look like a concrete jungle.

I also like the look of the people mover tracks - I just wish they had something traveling on them. They're certainly more attractive than their WDW counterpart -as IMHO the whole land. WDW's tomorrowland only looks moderately tolerable at night and during the day its just an eyesore - where at least Disneyland's has facades that do equally well at night or during the day.

My biggest problem with the Astro Orbiter & the People Mover track is the amount of people that amass in those two walkways between them & Star Tours/Buzz. It can be such a problem to get through there since there is so little space and the ST/Buzz lines sometimes spill out into the walkway. I'd love to see the PM return if only for the unique views of the park you'd get from riding it, but it's been 20 years, if you're really not going to do something with those tracks, then I say get rid of them.
