McDonald's Ain't Your Kind of Place

The only ChicFilA around here is at a mall some 15 miles from here; so it's a treat to eat there. Even Taco Bells began to close here. I don't care for Sonic Burgers, and I have to be in the mood for Subway. What I do like to treat myself to is Lavash that is sold in the WalMart deli. Even the boys will eat them. Another treat is Popeyes Chicken, which I will get when they run a special(love the onion rings).

Here is a favorite of our boys-Ryan, Terry, and Don (and Brandon, my extra child from next door). It takes 20 minutes:
Saute' green onions in two sticks margarine
add two packages of crawfish tails-saute'
add two packages of cream cheese-melt down
add large can of cream of muchroom
add pinch of minced garlic to taste, then Tony Chaceres

Simmer on low for 15 minutes

Serve over angel hair pasta

Guaranteed not to have any leftovers!

Is their anyone in America that actually thinks that fast food is ":HEALTHY"?
Things like this really steam me! ofcourse if that`s all you eat your going to have problems! Just like these studies that say that certain foods or drinks can give you cancer, and you find out they the people that did the study gave the animals such horrendous amounts of the product that ofcourse it`s going to harmful effects! So ofcourse if all you eat is junk food ofcourse it`s going to have harmful affects, but once in awhile is not going to do the body lasting harm. It always makes me laugh that you will have people that say oh Mc donalds is bad for you and they are standing there with a cigarette in their hand. Not to mention that alot of it all depends on genetics, some people are more suseptible to harmful affects, for instance George Burns Smoked all his adult life and ate a steady diet of junk food, yet he lived to be a ripe old age of "100" and then you have others that pick up a cigarette and 5 years later end up with emphasema or worse lung cancer.

Er... *checks local grocery in Detroit for crawfish* :lookaroun ;)

Actually, that sounds good, but I'd have to use chicken since I got a kid allergic to shellfish/fish.

And Darrel, nobody was under the illusion that McDonald's is GOOD for you, I htink the shocking thing was how quickly this man's health disintigrated after eating it constantly. :)

I mean if all you eat is junk food 3 times a day every day ofcourse it`s going to be hazardous to your health, but I seriously doubt that anyone eats at mcdonalds or any other fast food place 3 times a day 7 days a week and if there is, they are just asking for trouble.

Its not just you. I know fast food isn't good for you, but I was really suprised that it caused sooooo much damage so quickly.

Debbie, this sounds way too good. :slurp: :slurp: Too bad I can't score any crawfish tails up here in Alabama. As for Popeye's, we have some and we all love it, but the spicy here is like the mild in Louisiana. In fact, you have to specify spicy here just like you have to specify mild down there. I really miss that Cajun food.....

I think there are a lot of misconceptions out there. For example, look at Panera- fresh and delicious- and a lot of people DO assume it's the healthy option. However, there are items on their menu that rival Big Macs in fat content

Everything in moderation. :slurp:

I know people like that. Scary, eh?

And it was shocking to me, too. It was just such a short amount of time! Too bad it doesn't work in reverse: A few weeks of health food to reverse years of abuse.

I always work on the assumption that any fast food isn't good for me or my family or our budget. I notice that, if by chance, we do fast food several times a week; I feel blah. I start to begin craving a home-cooked meal. I used to feel like that when we would go to WDW and all there was, was burgers and fries to eat. I couldn't wait to get home and cook a meatloaf with mashed potatoes! Also, it costs $15.00 to feed our gang at McDonalds, and that times 7 days a week adds to more than what I spend on groceries a week.

Oh, and only 1/2 the bagel though. :(

That is so ripe for comment :lookaroun but, being a gentleman and a scholar :hurl: I will refrain from such childish behavior.

Can I borrow your towel? My car hit a water buffalo on the way over here>>>Moon River ...

SO what was this thread about? Oh yeah, Mikky Dees. I have to admit that I do like there breakfasts but for "Fast Food" nothing beats a three way and a chili wiener with cheese...Skyline rules!!

Of course the fat content will put you in a pine box :(

I think that we all need a good scare tactic to keep away from the fast food places... I know I do. I thought that after they found that breaded mouse at Popeye's :hurl: but apparently not!!!

As a former McDonald's manager, I know the food is not healthy. Everything is fried, but sometimes it hits the spot perfectly. The whole Supersizing thing is a big problem. The amount of sugar in that extra large Coca Cola will rot your teeth out and pack on the pounds. Soda is McDonald's biggest profit maker. It costs about 7 cents to make a medium coke (which used to be a large coke when I worked there in the '80's), and most of that cost is the cup.

the only thing is, it's 3 meals every day. average american doesn't eat three mcdonald's meals a day. heck i worked at mcd's and ate less than 1 mcd's meal a day. it's a good video for those who are that addicted. now adays i hardly goto a mcd's or wendy's or taco bell.
