Maybe I'm getting old...some rides too loud?

Having worked as a Safety Tech on a pipeline terminal construction site and my hubby working in/around refineries that are all extremely safety-conscious I can tell you that Dinosaur is waaaay too loud. I'd love to measure the decibels. It can't be a safe level. We always ride with disposable hearing protection which makes it way more enjoyable. Yes, it's still loud, exciting, & thrilling. We don't walk out with our bells wrung.

BTMRR's lift chains are such an ear-shattering sound. Ugh! I really hope addressing those will be included in the big overhaul. ((haven't read up on what's being done))

The other insane obnoxiously loud thing that grates on my head is that stupid 'Celebrate' whatever parade thing I can't seem to avoid at least twice on any given day that I'm in the MK. Why does it have to be ear-splitting loud??? I might actually watch it if it didn't make my head feel like its exploding. I have yet to see the whole thing because I always run from the painful screeching of it. Last trip was the first time ever that I left the MK for the last time of the trip relieved and glad to be on the exit side of the tunnel.

Every once in a while they will have the "whistling pirate" in the final jail scene of POTC cranked up to pain inducing levels.

If your boat gets stuck at just the right spot while you're waiting for them to unload it's really terrible.

Yeah, dinosaur is really loud but it wouldn't be as effective if it wasn't. Plus... Dinosaur sceeaches freak my mum out... So funny to watch her freak out on the picture at the end.

Dinosaur is a great ride, but it is a little loud for my taste. I think my age has affected my opinion a bit. When I was in my late teens early 20's I didn't mind the noise at all. In fact, I thought that it added to the plesantly frantic nature of the ride. Now that I am nearly 30 I rarely ride dinosaur because of the loud frantic nature of the ride. My how things change.

I don't think anything is too loud, nor have my ears rung after a ride. With that being said, my ears could be shot because of my profession.

I like loud music, I like to watch movies with lots of volume (especially action scenes), but I found myself commenting to my wife that some of the rides were just too friggin loud during this last WDW trip. The most notable that I can remember were Dinosaur and Mission Space (Green). I don't remember noticing this on previous trips.

Anyone else notice this?

YES, on Mission Space! Those beeps that happen every time someone pushes a button are EAR SPLITTING. Couldn't stand being trapped in there with such a loud soundtrack.

They have to crank up the volume to drown out the guests that feel it necessary to run off at the mouth during the attractions.

Well now someone on another thread posted they have turned down audio on Dinosaur...might take awhile to get it right yet thrilling. On reading other's posts....the thing I forgot to mention that irritates me the most are the noise of the stage shows at DHS....parties whatever under the hat...I literally was speed walking breaking upon a jog to get away from THAT noise...it's my least favorite park and that is probably my #1 reason....

Nice to think the BTMRR lift noise might be lessened by the refurb....:king: Happy to check it out next time I visit!!! :sohappy:

the dinosaur ride...my family and i will be at the world in almost 2 months and well be going to AK for the first time...dinosaur im looking forward to...how long is the ride and just how loud is it lol? we have a 5 yr old who loves dinosaurs and my wife and i will be wondering if he should go on it....thanks

The ride is a few minutes long, but VERY intense, especially for a 5 year old. So many of the effects broken makes it less so, but I'm sure a 5 year old wouldn't even notice. There's quite a bit of complete darkness, a handful of "BOO!" moments, etc...

It's also EXTREMELY loud, unless the recent reports here about the volume being taken down a notch are accurate long term.

I'm not saying your 5 year old shouldn't ride... Some smaller kids (especially boys) might love being scared like that. Just trying to help you make an informed decision.

It's definitely meant to be intense though.
