Maximizing QS Credits

Hey all! I am new, so I apologize if this has been posted recently or if I break any rules. My family (me, hub, 3 kids) is going to Disney, and we bought the DDP. I have heard there are some Quick Service places that give such large portions, that it can be possible at a few locations to share a credit (share one meal) with another person. My kids are 9, 7, and 4, and I can totally see that my 4 year old will not eat a whole portion. Any of you veterans have any recs on some places (all 4 parks) where I might be able to use one quick service credit at lunch or dinner between two people (adult or kid)? Any place with really big portions? I am not looking to 'cheat' all week, just once or twice to allow an occasional third meal for a kid in a day. Thanks a ton!!

If you do a search or look through the Restaurants and Dining forum, you'll see some other threads on this topic as well.

One option that sticks out in my mind is at Cosmic Ray's at Magic Kingdom. At Bay 1, there is a 1/2 Chicken and Rib Combo meal that also comes with a side of mashed potatoes and a vegetable. Definitely a larger portion than normal at a counter service. There is also a similar Ribs and Chicken Combo at Flame Tree Barbeque over at Animal Kingdom that comes with baked beans and coleslaw.

I agree with nelapostparks.

Just back and on QS for the first time...Here's your big portions..WPE at downtown Disney, pizza big enough for two..CHH at MK.the shrimp & fries had 12 juicy plump shrimps..Any combo meal is enough to share. At Epcot I struggled at SS with the Mongolian beef Dish and the slow roast pork meal.We had a 14 day vacation and still had 7 meal credits left out of 84 meal credits.

Some good QS locations where we have eaten & have gotten large portions are:
Columbia Harbor House at MK
Flame Tree BBQ at AK
Also, I hear that Wolfgang Puck Express in DTD is good & has large portions (we have never eaten there, but plan to on our next trip)

There are separate kids menus so the children will have to order from those, the portions are fairly small. 2 adults however can easily share one meal at the places mentioned above. I'd especially recommend Wolfgang Puck Express, portions are large there. Also the QS locations at the hotels tend to be better than the parks, with a lot of choice and large portions.

We need time for things to happen.
You're kids are young and if they eat like my son (a small bird) I think you'd have a harder time finding a QS meal that wasn't big enough to share. UNLESS you and your husband are huge eaters.
That doesn't mean I do a lot of sharing...I'm just saying. ;)

But in all seriousness - some of the places mentioned are some really good meals you can share, Cosmic Rays, CHH, SS, and WPE is just an all around awesome QS meal, that acts like a TS meal.

Or how about a Cinnamon Bun at Main Street Bakery? That's a Snack credit and that bad boy can fill 2 people for breakfast.

First off, just in case you are really thinking this, I don't feel you are cheating by using the credits you paid for in a way that meets your needs. Credits are lumped together for a reason.

The 3 kids will have kids meal credits. For the sake of clarity, the meals mentioned above are adult meals and not available with kids meal credits; however, they are big enough that your 4 YO could eat off your plate and both diners, young and old, be satisfied. (My wife and I have split these meals before and been filled.) Conversely, I have had members of my party over 10 YO that were light eaters order kids meals and be satisfied.

In addition to the great recommendations above, Yorkshire Fish in Epcot - UK does not have kids meals on their menu. Therefore, the kids get an adult size meal at the kids meal credit and could share. I have never done this, maybe some one else will chime in on any special logistics of the purchase. If you like fish, this is one of the most popular QS places in WDW. Same practice applies at Caseys Corner in MK, no kids meals. Could the 4 and 7 split a dog and fries?

And for a combination of quality and quanity, try Pepper Market at Coronado Springs. For a QS credit, you get essentially a Table Service Buffet. You would have to use all five credits, but the meal you get would be quite filling and may make it easier to have just two meals in a day. May even be a nice break from the QS, paper plate, routine. (Note: still a QS credit at dinner, but not a buffet).

WOW! Thanks y'all for such wonderful information. I will write all this down and be sure to try it. I am excited to be able to have a credit or two left for that last day. I didn't even think about the 'snacks'! I love the Cinnamon Bun idea for breakfast. We have only been one time, and it was a few years back. I was somewhat a 'deer in headlights', so I am trying to get my ducks in a row this time. I want to plan where we will be which day, etc. I think some of y'all are 'professionals' at this, so I figured I could get some great advice. Thanks again for your excellent help!! :) CAN'T WAIT!!!!

I have mentioned before that I often don't order kid's meals with QS credits because the adult portions tastes a lot better (especially the chicken nuggets). Our girls sometimes share one adult QS meal. Others have said that this has been an issue, but we have never had a problem. DH and I will also often share QS meals because not only are portions huge, but dessert is included which is even more food. We will use the extra credits for breakfast or do a signature one night with our TS credits and use the extra QS to cover a meal.

In addition to the places mentioned above, others places with large portions are:

- Tangierine Cafe - The shawarma platters are huge (and delicious!)
- Fairfax Faire - The chicken and rib combo easily feeds two adults
- Kringla Bakeri - We had lunch there last year, and the portion size was out of control. For a QS credit, we received a large sandwich, large salad (either fruit or garden), a pastry, and a drink. It was more than enough for two people (and the ham and apple sandwich along with their delicious pastries are a winning combo!).
- Wolfgang Puck Express - We had lunch there last year, and we wished we had shared because neither me or DH could finish our meal. I had the pennette bolognese and DH has the rotisserie club sandwich.

Thanks Crispy. I will add those to my list. I am not familiar with the Tangierine Cafe, but I love Mediterranean food. Thanks for the tips!

We always used to recommend the chicken/rib combo at Cosmic Ray's but they took it off of the menu in spring on 2012.

The platter at Tangierine cafe (epcot) is large enough to share. Cosmic Ray's still has other meals that are quite large. the breakfast bounty platters at the hotels with food courts are pretty big.

Earl of sandwich has huge sandwiches and I can never finish one by myself.

We just ate there a few weeks ago, and my partner had it for dinner, so it's definitely still on the menu.
really? That is so odd. The ribs have been gone since March or so. Maybe they brought them back due to popular demand. Do know know which sides it came with?
