Matterhorn to Receive New Bobsleds

Yeah, doesn't the new paint job look great?! It's amazing to think they did that without actually refabricating the rocks underneath, the new texture and look appears to have been done entirely with paint.

I found this picture below that someone took a year or two ago from their Disneyland Hotel room. I can't wait for more pictures like this to come in with the new Matterhorn paint job.

The San Gabriel Mountains just north of Anaheim got another foot or two of snow yesterday from that rare spring storm that blew through town on Friday.

I bet this is the same view many folks woke up to this morning at the Disneyland Hotel!

Such a cool picture of the Matterhorn with the real mountains in the distance.

The Matterhorn is almost out of scaffolding.

Also Mintcrocodile spotted a green colored bobsled. Previously we've seen red and blue.

The Disney Parks Blog has posted a great video showing more of the repainting of the Matterhorn. Interesting to see they used glass beads in the "snow". The video was taken a few weeks back as all the scaffolding is now gone from the mountain.

Just back home now from my second DisneyLand visit. I was delighted to see the new bobsleds being cycled through the mountain for a few hours of the day on Tuesday ( June 6th). I had read about it being down for refurb and for new sleds, but was happy to see them scooting about regardless. No riders, just the sleds being cycled though one after the other. They looked great...bright and shiny!

This is probably old news by now....but i thought i would post it anyway.

- BIG YES there Raven....i had a great time though it was only one day/night. I plan on returning again soon, perhaps this Autumn if funds allow.

Besides, i have to come back.....this was only my second visit to the original Park and i STILL have not had the chance to ride The Matterhorn! Outrageous, i know!

Well..i will be sure to remedy that next time.

Amen! I love your enthusiasm!:) Man, I wish you could have stayed longer. That's okay though. Hopefully Matterhorn won't be down or anything the next time you go! So what were you able to accomplish in that one day?

I found a video from Dateline Disneyland of a full ride-through of the newly refurbished Matterhorn! It soft opened yesterday and the video is of the ride from the Fantasyland side.

It looks like it's going faster and it looks smoother too. I hope it is smoother because the last time I rode Matterhorn I came off with a backache! The lighting looks really cool and Harold is a lot louder. The new bobsleds look awesome. Can't wait to ride!

Thanks for posting, Raven. I am very much looking forward to my first ride on the new, improved Matterhorn next month.

Thank you! I have always like the Tomorrowland side better. I don't know why exactly, I just do.

I like the Tomorrowland side better as well, because it's faster than Fantasyland's side, although the track is shorter. Now it seems the Fantasyland side is going faster. Definitely have to check that out during my next trip!
