The transition away from mandatory masks is going to be a touchy and messy one for Disney I fear. The ruling changes expected from CDC (which has been Disney's baseline) are expected to only apply to those who have been vaccinated. Unfortunately, since we don't have a forehead tattoo so show we have been, there is no way to tell which guests have been vaccinated and which have not. As a result, you can't go with a no mask rule until some level that we do not seem to be close to yet. But I fear we'll have a new wave of rage against Disney CM's trying to enforce the mask mandate during this transitionary phase.

What I expect we're most likely to see from Disney is tightening up the distancing gaps in lines as the first stage of things which will reduce some of the congestion in the parks and also allow them to potentially increase the capacity above the current 35% threshold.

Actually WDW has to take into consideration those outside the USA who come to visit. Are they fully vaccinated and how to you get this information which opens a larger can of worms.

Now we all know like Faucci, the CDC has been so back tracking that it is no longer funny. This is not just about the virus any more and is being used as a fear weapon to get change to occur in the USA. If you think it is not then why are you still wearing the mask all us vaccinated people? Why are you still social distancing. WDW cannot truly enforce this rule since a directive from the Governor has no mask and social distancing rule in affect in the State of Fla. This does leave open a lot of potential law suits

I agree. I think the “distancing” will be the first to go to allow for more capacity.

The latest CDC guideline is going to force Disney's hand. I would think there is going to be something from Disney in the next few weeks.

This is not true. The executive order only said that local authorities cannot fine a business for not enforcing masking rules. Businesses can still require masks for entry, and are allowed to enforce social distancing.

Bingo......
That is why I think it won't be until 2023 until masks come off at WDW.
It's a global tourist hub.

Just require everyone to be vaccinated to come to the parks after a certain point and create a process for medical exemptions. No point trying to negotiate with these free thinking individuals who don't want to get the vaccine. Going to a theme park is a privilege, not a right.
How do you validate this with guests coming from around the world?

And if we could all just hold with the masks til the pandemic is not a pandemic, then ALL people - including those who may be more at risk and whom everyone has just been saying “well they can stay home then” could have safe outdoor interactions.

but instead the general mindset seems to continue to be, well let’s just get back to normal for everyone and those who can’t because they are at risk, well, who cares they just need to stay home longer.

This pandemic has certainly highlighted that society no longer operates under the “it takes a village” mindset, but rather everyone for themselves. It’s disheartening.

Bingo.

The oft-repeated sentiment that individuals should be able to choose for themselves how much risk to take, completely misses the reality of a pandemic.

Refusing to wear a mask to the mall, for example, isn't just personal risk. It makes it more likely that person could catch COVID and pass it on to someone else at the grocery store or WDW or wherever.

I can't believe that people still don't get this in April 2021. These people need the authorities telling them what to do to help save other people from the stupidity of the anti-maskers. Your right to do whatever you want ends when you start hurting others!

And this is what I was getting at. There’s too much selfishness, too much of people not caring if they hurt others as long as they get to do what they want.
