There should just be one thread entitled "The Avengers Milestone Thread" !

Anybody want to start it?

Also..let's call it Disney's Avengers instead of Marvel's Avengers. :D

Maybe. This is forum. Forums have threads, sometimes a lot.

One Avengers thread is enough... We don't need a new thread every day detailing what Avengers is doing in the theaters... There are at least 6 threads already going and they all talk about the same thing... Steve and the mods should just combine these threads into 1 thread...

Who cares how many threads there are?! Really?
Of course Steve and the mods can combine them if they like or not; and if they do, so be it, whatever.

Just don't go into a thread if you think it talks about the same thing and move on. Its not that important really.

Very possible... This movie will have legs for the next few weeks... Nothing coming out that will challenge it, in my opinion... Not until MIB 3 anyway...

It just smashed the first week domestic record and did so in 5 days! Bit of a drop off but a movie performing at these levels is unprecedented.

If I was guessing I would say a lot of folks will make this a big family event and are waiting for the weekend. I expect a big second weekend due to word of mouth. Just a hunch. No data to back it up. I just expect there to be good response from those who have not seen it and would normally wait for the DVD.

Seems like a great family movie.

Actually JT, I agree with you.. I think the movie will have another big second weekend... Not $200 million big, but I wouldn't be shocked if it pulled in $100 million or more... Like I said, there is really no competition for a few weeks, combine that with awesome word of mouth, people who stayed away the first weekend because of the large crown anticipation going to see it the second weekend when there should be some drop off, and the desire for people to see this movie multiple times, that is a recipe for long term success...

I still haven't seen the movie yet...

BTW: Another $17 million on Tuesday, domestic total up to $244 million, and $744 million world wide...

The Avengers Will Cross $300 Million and Claim 2nd Weekend Record

May 12, 2012

With Walt Disney Pictures reporting another $29 million estimated gross for Marvel's The Avengers for Friday, the movie has grossed $299 million to date domestically and is looking to cross the $300 million mark sometime today.

It's also looking to destroy the current second weekend record for a movie, currently held by James Cameron's Avatar with $75.6 million as well as The Dark Knight's second weekend take of $75.2 million as projections have it bringing in as much as $100 million in its second weekend, down roughly 51% from its record opening.

Worldwide, the movie has grossed $854 million through yesterday, which should put it among the Top 20 all-time global blockbusters by weekend's end, placing it in the realm of Jurassic Park and some of the "Harry Potter" movies after a little over two weeks.

Check back later this weekend for updated numbers for what's turning out to not only be the biggest hit of 2012 but also one of the biggest blockbusters of all time.

If these numbers hold it should break 1 Billion globally this weekend which is almost inconceivable in such a short period of time.

Looks like it might! I don't think anything will touch the Avengers this year; not even The Dark Knight Rises. Even if they are different movies as some would argue; it won't matter.

I wouldn't underestimate the bat. Really depends on how great a movie it is.

I understand why this version of Batman resonates with audiences in such a spectacular way.

And some day I might even explain it to all of you here. But you'll just have to wait awhile. At least until I see the final film.

Which I can't wait to see!
