Marvel Land at DCA. Your thoughts...

Please no more studio look to things. All it does is look cheap with uncompleted buildings and dated references. That look is no longer in vogue thanks to Potter and Carsland. Just finish the facades on both sides and make things look like an actual street.
I don't want it, but it seems like everyone here cares more about it working with the parks theme than the actual quality of the land...

I'm kinda past the point of caring as nothing I say or do, even voting with my wallet, will change what they do. Disney is perfectly capable of trying to build this land with some type of California tie in...maybe whatever happens in the rides happens in California. Maybe the facades of the show buildings are places from California. Whatever they do, I hope it's high quality. I'm already a bit put off with the potential TOT re-themeing.

This pretty much sums it up for me. Disney has had an exceptional track record for the past 5 years or so, at least in terms of thematic experience design - just look at the extreme measures they're taking to integrate SW into Frontierland and Critter Country. Considering how that project began as a TL redo, then moved to Toontown, and finally landed at the current backstage site, it's too soon to be fretting about how a Marvel themed land might be aligned with its surrounding environs in DCA.

Personally I was never worried about Marvel land not fitting the California theme. Its just interesting to speculate what the land may look like. Here's to hoping it's not just a generic big city.

Being that there isn't that much room back there I say focus less on making this a "mini land" and take all the space you need for that E ticket and give us something amazing.

They recreated Radiator Springs and the Cadillac Mountains in roughly the same area. There are space constraints, but there's plenty of room to do something that meets expectations.

Obviously this image represents at guess a the expansion area, but what's shown here, which doesn't include ToT and all of A Bug's Land, looks roughly comparable to Cars Land next door. I think it's safe to say it's more than 6-7 acres.

I know you all will think I'm crazy, but I kind of applaud Disney for trying to deliver an experience that was different. I actually think the concept would have worked if they'd spent more and stayed true to the quality of their brand. The same can be said for Tomorrowland '98, which in similar ways was an almost bigger failure.

Someday they'll have to re-theme Tomorrowland. My hope is that they'll bring back the Peoplemover in a new way. And the structure that sits on top of the Peoplemover ride queue, put the Rocket Jets back up there.

I like that there's a post lauding Disney's attempt to try something new and then immediately someone quotes that to advocate recycling decades old ideas. :banghead:

Now that you say that, you're right. The highlighted area is bigger than Cars Land!
