Marty Sklar's slip of the lip?

So I just got my WDI Imagineering the Magic DVD in the mail this week and the DVD was so and so....could of been better, the one thing that I find most interesting about this DVD was a comment made by Marty on the 2nd dvd. He talks about success of Disneyland and how it lead to the development of all the other 11 theme parks, then he corrects himself (quickly) and says 10 theme parks worldwide. Did he just make a slip of the lip???

If he was already excluding Disneyland in his list and said 11 parks then he totally was hinting about another gate or park. Could it of been a clever slip of the lip? Marty may be getting up there in the years but I really think he did it on purpose. He's a pretty eloquent speaker.

Anyone else catch it?

His facial expression wasn't that of a miscalculation, he had the Marty smirk and slight twist of the head like "Did you just catch that" sort of expression. He was very playful when I met him in 2005, I had dinner with him and when I asked him certain questions, he would give me that same smirk as if to say "You know I can't answer that". Plus Marty is THE WDI historian, hence the Ambassador title. I think he would know exactly how many parks there are....who knows???

Maybe I am reading in to it too much. But the never-the-less it was interesting.

That is a good find. You probably shouldn't look much into it, but always keep that statement at the front of your mind just in case. It could actually be a clue.

That is quite interesting, and I have to believe terp79 that this just wasn't just a slip. From what you tell us, it's comparable to Oceans 13 where Willy Bank taunts you to "break the bank."

And then an "Oops."

Also, if he slipped up, couldn't they have just edited it out?

There are always ideas for new parks being tossed around. We've talked about that here and elsewhere in the blogosphere. The new interest by Oriental Land Company to open another Disney location in northern Japan or even outside of Japan is an example of another possibility.

As stated above, DVD's are well edited and very scripted. We need to keep in mind that Disney knows the following they have and who will have interest in an Imagineering DVD. If it truly "slipped", it would have been edited out. Thus, doubt that was a slip, but more of a teaser. We know there will be more Disney parks in the world, even in Florida and even California. It's just a matter of when. Could be announced in 1 year, may not be announced for 10 years. Who knows.

IMHO: Teaser that Disney isn't stagnant and is always working on something behind the scenes. Nothing more.

I think it was just a mistake. He was thinking how there are 11 parks but realized he was talking about how it's Disneyland plus another 10. I don't think it's anything to get excited over.

If he's referring to Night Kingdom, I'll be peeved. That shouldn't be a new park, it should be an AK add-on. Gollie gee.
