One thing I do agree with though is to remove Master Gracys sudden hanging death. Although I highly doubt more than 99% of people even know it exist I think with all the suicides that have happened in recent years it should be removed and the lighting just stay. I have no issues with it but that's just an opinion. I honestly love the haunted mansion and although I did freak out at Alien Encounter have always had my eyes wide opened and after the carousel of progress, HM is my favorite attraction at MK.

That's not Master Gracey that's hanging, it's the Ghost Host.

Right? I can't remember when they upgraded the audio in that room to what it is now (like the traveling audio), but when I first heard it, I got goosebumps even though I'd heard the spiel like a bazillion times before. The effect was just do, so, so, so, so, so, good!!!!! I freakin' love that room!!!

It only sets up the rest of the ride... People like our 1 and done posting OP just cheese me off. These are the Katiebug's and so forth, and like our Sanitation thread (employee with the mop) where they found 1 thing, 1.. and are trying to come here for sympathy from us in hopes that we'll help them get the word out to Disney that they can't handle adulting AND parenting all at the same time.

If your kid is 5, the Haunted Mansion is probably not a ride you take them on anyway (Parenting fail on OP's part). I know my niece will be 5 next year and HM is not a ride I would put her on. She has a couple years yet before doing that (even though it's not all that scary... to an adult).

And this line is the best of the OP's post:
As much as we would like, we cannot always protect our children, no matter their age, from scary things. What better place is there to deal with that then the relative safety of a Disney Park.

If it was removed the line, "Of course, there's always MY way..." wouldn't make sense...

"There's always my way"....and then a screen comes down showing a movie of an old man dying of natural causes, his last words "I had a long fruitful life and i regret nothing. just kidding kids, death doesn't exist. I'm actually falling asleep and you are all part of my dream, a dream that includes Princesses and lands made of candy. Kindly exit to your right. Thanks for riding the Almost Haunted Elevator with old Man McCuddly." Problem solved, kids happy.

How else is the Ghost Host supposed to take us on the tour if he's alive? When he says he's headed to the other side, where do you think he's going?

Not singling anyone out here, this is just an overall mini-rant, but... This is where society is going downhill. The PC that needs to be had in this country is awful. Anyone ever go to Disneyland Paris? They don't hold back over there with things. If it's supposed to be scary... it's scary. Too many over-sensitive weenies in this country anymore. If you're worried about your kids and rides like this? Be a parent and talk to them before you go and explain to them what they're going to see!!!!

Honestly the whole hanging thing doesn't bother me at all but it always is one of those first timer complaints that I end up lmao about. Even the OPs post made me pee in my pants from laughter. I might just end up sharing it on the Disney Parks and Resorts corporate forum of funniest guest complaints, yes it actually does exist because honestly complaints like these are way too funny.

Ummm... hmmm... ehhhh.... I believe a line might've been crossed somewhere in that statement. I don't think this is public knowledge. I mean, I think we all, in the back of our minds, know that this is probably going on, but to have that confirmation? Now I'm wondering what else gets shared... o_O

Can't you tell the cast member that you want to skip that part bc of small kids?
In theory you could and they are more than obliged for the most part to do so they are trained to do so. Only that first timers naturally don't know how to ask politely. Yes these guys are human and can break character to help frightened children. How the poor kid got past the graveyard surprises me.

Your average work gossip. It's not being rude it's just having a good time. Ghost stories and imagineering debates are always a blast as to who is who why did they do it this way ect. A lot of cast members and corporate people like to view these unfiltered forums for the laughs and wild ideas some of which are amazing. A lot of us enjoy our jobs and like to make our guest confotsble in every way possible even if it means breaking character and telling parents it's not a really bright idea to take that small kid in a ride especially if your one of those super eveangelicals. I would think you skip this attraction as if where the devil himself. But all to their own right.

I'd think they would know how to stay in character and help out... at least the good CM's anyway... Anyway...

IMO, it's a parents job to do the homework on the rides and such. Just because the park says Disney on the front, doesn't mean anything. I don't think there's ever been a Disney movie made where there isn't some sort of downfall (loss/death/etc) or evil villain. Uncertainty is built into their movies (but normally has a resolution for the good), so why should the rides not have some uncertain elements?

I mean, c'mon, look at It's a Small World... Adults fear that ride, probably why they put bathrooms in the Tangled area instead of the Snuggly Duckling... because all the adults are poopin' their pants from hearing the music to that ride!

Again, more stuff that IMO, shouldn't be known outside the office. By saying you might post this in a funny work forum, well, the OP would know that. Imagineering thread... Ok you read it and see the ideas, who's to say Disney didn't pick up some ideas from a poster and never give them credit? I doubt the legal dept would be happy.... But hey, it's all in fun right?

To date not a single idea from these sites has ever been envisioned or developed I didn't mean it in that way. I meant it as in people all over the World Wide Web have incredible ideas, thoughts, and comments about the Walt Disney company as a whole. It's quite amazing to be able to read these kinds of things. When it comes to very large Fortune 500 companies, corporate culture can be fun and interesting. Sure you may think it weird that someone who works in parks and resorts is this vocal about things like this but believe me when I say it, no one in the board of directors has ever taken a guest or bloggers ideas seriously. After all it's not like the company pays Engineers hundreds of millions a year just to design and build things. What I meant in my original comment is employees of TWDC love to look at the crazy things Disney fans will say and do online. The official Disney blog is filtered for a reason. Negative comments are almost automatically deleted. One of my favorite places to go for reviews is Yelp, Yahoo, and Google. It's amazing the comments out out there and believe me many of us actually read them it's just the BOD doesn't allow us to act on them and many managers and General managers don't or cannot comply to the core values that the company was founded upon. That's why there are slip ups, attractions looking like they belong to a third party theme park, theme parks lost in transition because corporate can't agree to a strategy of what they want to do with the renovations ect.

Not sure which is a more disturbing thought: The hanging suicide, or being in any elevator with someone named Old Man McCuddly. o_O
