Mannequins and 8TRAX will be reopening soon?

If they do bring back some parts of PI.... I would imagine they will relook at the tickets and the price structures so they can get whatever profit they can from the cover-charges. Maybe the Comedy warehouse would be a single ticket show... and that is how they can turn some green for the live entertainment shows.

Since the AC show format is always ongoing, I can see how it is so hard to turn a profit with a performing cast to pay for. But it is one of the best acts and shows they have for night time entertainment.

I'll try and dig up my bottle of pixie dust, find the wishing star tonight, and whatever else... in hopes that this may come true.

I find it hard to believe the AC just broke even considering it was frequently rented out for parties and the ticket was $20. I don't buy the unprofitable argument one bit.

While I'm not yet sure of the validity of this rumor (I'm looking into it this week), I look at this with two reasons why the company wouldn't want to reopen the Adventurer's Club:
  1. It is a costly club to operate--not only are talent needed, but bartenders and security. In general, with the club not bringing in any major profits, I don't think the call alone would warrent its revival when it barely breaks even.
  2. Fan attachment--it took quite some time for many diehard fans of the AC to accept the fact that the club was closed, and Disney has received such a negative response from that audience, they just want it to be over with it (and I have not doubt that Iger's short response to the AC-related question has to do with PR's frustration over the whole situation). To reopen the club, with the intent to shut it down later on would only revive the uproar that has somewhat died down. Thats not to say that there aren't people who are still upset, or people who will never forgive the company for their actions, but much of the negative feedback has evaporated with time. Disney doesn't want to reopen this piece of history unless they are sure it will stay open--they won't go through this stress again willingly without probable reason to believe that their venture will be lasting and successful.
Just the way I see it from the company's standpoint...

As for the current state of the clubs, you may want to visit my latest trip report from Pleasure Island--I was able to grab some photos showing the interior state of the BET Soundstage Club, Motion, the Rock and Roll Beach Club and more. If there is any hope that a club would reopen, it would be in one of those three or in Mannequins.

After looking at all of your pictures from your trip report, i found it very interesting that DTD mgmt left in place so many signs, props, decorations, that all relate to the recently closed PI clubs and activity. It would've been really easy to remove all these items after the club closure, but they didn't. IF anything, it says to me they were being extremely lazy and might have been waiting for new tennants that would bear the cost of tearing down the old stuff.

As to only the BET logo missing from what was the "BET Soundstage" it probably has to do with contracts with BET that Disney did not want to continue paying for the name use rights.

The $20 ticket covers everyone... including the Comedy warehouse. Don't forget all the folks that get the Manager's special upgrade to a 5-day ticket for only $5 more. The private parties were likely not as often as they needed to be in order to make something from them. So I can come to terms and buy the argument that the AC struggled to break-even each night, while other clubs, while the RnRBC was bleeding every night from lack of interest. So they were the first to get axe'd.

I would bet that shortly before closing or after closing they kind of got the idea it might have been a mistake. They really haven't remove anything that couldn't be replaced quite quickly. Its a good guess that they may have been waiting on new tennants or had new tennants and they fell through and now the state of the area is dragging down the current tennants and they don't want to loose them. I wouldn't want to pay Curl's rent for that place with the lack of traffic walking by the store. If somethings not done it could be a domino effect with the remaining companies folding up and they would have to totally start over.

Sure AC might not have made a ton of money but how much money does DTD make with no stores and no consumer traffic. ZIP Zero nada

How to make the AC instantly profitable: Cover charge for it alone. No free admission for anyone, including CMs.
Done. Fixed.

that's a big DUH! (said with respect) .... since they still have to provide power and basic services (restrooms, music, custodial services, etc) for the entire area. I mean how much are the two drink bars and the cheap Adventurer's Club snack cart actually bringing in for the entire area?

To add to that, I would really hope that they would not offer any type of annual pass for Adventurer Club. I loved the club itself, but there were always way too many "regulars" who just really tainted the whole experience. I'm sure the regulars would still be there, and be annoying, but hopefully that would deter them a bit.

I love how only the people who aren't locally accessable to the club vote down APs to it :ROFLOL:

How to make AC even more profitable....

Knock down wall and connect it to BET.
Re theme BET and expand library area.

Create a dinner show experience, that includes the AC cast and special show.
Charge 59.95 for all you can eat and drink.

DONE!

Whatever it takes to keep out the riff-raff. I'd be willing to make a pretty large wager that most of the annoying patrons were not vacationers. It would probably be cost-effective for us to buy an annual pass within the next couple of years if PI were to reopen, and one were to be offered, but some of the regulars really soured the experience to the point where I'd gladly pay more if it meant they were less likely to be there.

I like the dinner show idea, too.

I had an AP to PI for several years just for AC and would have gladly gave it up to still have it. From what I hear City Walk is getting rid of APs. I guess they do not want to suffer the same fate as PI.

Yay! Another AC hopeful thread! Yay!

IT'S CLOSED. THE CLUBS HAVE HAD ALL SIGNAGE AND PROPS REMOVED...

MOVE ON.......

The only reason they haven't been ripped apart is because the new 'tenants' are not secured for those 2 buildings yet..

They said it last year

They said it in letters and emails

Iger said it at the shareholders meeting (don't twist his words... he said NO!)

It's GONE! You are doing it a disservice by dragging this on..

The only signage removed was that painted on... or the license expired (like BET removed yet Soundstage Club remains)

Also, the Rock N Roll Beach Club signage still remains...

and all iger said was no to moving it to Disneyland...

I wish Disney had paid more attention to those polls (which I took ALL THE TIME after coming home from vacation) about what people use the "water park fun and more" ticket option for. I go down to Disney about once a year...not enough to be a passholder, but often enough that I spend a LOT of money there. My friends and I ALWAYS bought WPF&M passes when AC was open...and we never went to Disney Quest, the Water Parks or any other club on PI other than AC.

Now that it's closed, we would never consider paying the money for WPF&M upgrade option on our passes. Sometimes the upgrade was worth it (we made it over to AC 3 or more times in a trip) and sometimes we stayed at the parks too late too many times and didn't get our money's worth. Either way, it's $50 we're now not spending that used to go entirely towards entrance to AC. And I know (from talking to other people) that we weren't alone.

*shrugs* I'd pay for entrance to a dinner show there. Would be much more enjoyable for me than the Luau or HDDR at a comparable price.
