Even if true that is some people's perception, this cast member was not dressed "trashy" or even "immodestly." She was dressed as a cartoon character.
There is no consensus on what is 'trashy' or 'immodest', 'elegant' or 'modest'. However she was dressed is never an invitation to be physically invaded with unwelcome gropes, whether she was dressed as Jessica Rabbit, an astronaut, sun bather, flight attendant...

This guy could've made that error, where his behavior and self control filter changed based on anothers attire.

Not going to get into a debate one way other the other, but people blaming it, and there actually being a connection, are two totally different things.

There is a connection though. Studies have shown the corralation between behavior as it relates to the media they consume for decades.

This I grossly disagree with. No sexual offender, uses the defense, that they didn't know, they couldn't do that.
Unfortunately, you're quite wrong on this. Many have used the defense that they were offended against in the same way and their offender was not prosecuted so they thought they could do same...mind you perhaps not quite in those words, but it certainly is used. Have also seen some use religion or community standards to excuse that it's ok with those, why should the law be different.

You should link the studies because all the ones I've read say the opposite.

Heavy metal in the 80s, Married with Children in the 90s, Video games in the 00s, they bring up new boogie men every decade that never hold true.

As with anything else, I can find sources to support either side of the argument.

Listen, this is a sick thing that happened, and I am just suggesting that eliminating some trash on TV might be a good step at reducing sexual assault. Why resist that?

I can, it took 5 seconds:

Why resist that?

Because it wouldn't do anything. It would be the entertainment version of prohibition. We all would like things like this to happen less, lets just agree on that and move on.

Like I said, google searching is not research. The links you show is a connection between violence and video games, which I agree doesn't exist. However, I am connecting people acting out what they see on TV. This is proven with copy cat crimes, to fashion, and opinion.

I remember a study I read years ago that looked at the careers of adults. It showed underprivileged children who became a doctor because of Dr. Huxtable on the Cosby show, and also referenced engineers that sourced MacGyver as an inspiration. Now we have people wanting to be the next teen mom. That depresses me.

It's complicated. On one hand we have the over-saturation of sex being thrown at our youth. On the other side, sex is a natural thing and to suppress the normalcy can be harmful too. Then there's the whole issue of censorship and who gets to draw the lines? What 'trash' do you eliminate? Think about it. That's just the tip of the iceberg.

Focusing on boundaries and consent is good because it works at changing mentalities proactively. So even when people are exposed to fantasy sex through media, they also have a full understanding of sexual boundaries in the reality of their daily lives.

It's impossible* to make any affect by adjusting the media because what do we remove and how could we ever remove all of whatever that is? We need to approach it from the other end... how we think about it in our actual normal lives. Separate it from the fantasy.

*I shouldn't say impossible, what I mean is it's an insurmountable task.

Now you're talking about positive role models. I dont buy your assumption that tv shows effect negative/criminal behaviour and I've yet to see any evidence to change my mind.

Fair enough. But I just said people act out what they see, positive or negative. I bet you if the Kardashians started wearing Bell Bottoms, you would see them in store!

Will removing the Kardashians stop people from being influenced other ways?

Take a kid. You don't want them to grow up Kardashian. What's a better choice and likely outcome: take away Kardashian viewing, or provide them with more worthwhile and interesting experiences so they have a healthier pool to source their interests from?
