I've read on a couple of occassions that people are making pymts on their WDW vaca. How are y'all doing this? Is it like a vaca on 'layaway'?

Disney requires a deposit, then if you still have a time to go, you send in payments until you get the final total and pay it off prior to your trip

Payments on trip

I have booked two vacations through Disney, one on-line and the other over the telephone. I placed a deposit down and was able to make payments right on-line at the WDW site. This allowed me to book my trip almost a year in advance and pay it off through the year. I believe you have until 45 days prior or 30 days prior to your check-in date to finish paying for the stay. I find that this is a great way to budget and have a great trip without having to come up with all of the money at once. I believe that my deposit was $300.00 dollars down on the first trip for one room and $600.00 for the other trip due to two rooms; that's if my memory serves. Go to the WDW site and play around with checking dates and different resorts, tickets, dining, etc and find out what works for you. Enjoy:)

It's pretty much what was said on the previous posts. I booked over the phone and paid a $200 deposit. I then went online to the official Disney World site where you create a log in and can make payments directly from there. It's nice because you can pay small amounts as you get the $ instead of putting it out a credit card and racking up interest. Disney doesn't charge any interest on it. You just have to have it paid 45 days prior to your trip. A word of warning though, when you make online payments, it is instantly charged. So many other places take a day or two to show up, but it hits immediately with Disney. It also shows you exactly how much you've paid on what day and how much more is owed.

The only thing I can add is to make sure to emphasize that it is not required that you make payments between your initial deposit and your "final" payment. You certainly can pay every week or every month if you wish, but many people (including myself) just put down the deposit and then pay the rest of the balance all at once at a later time. I had planned on making some payments in the meantime, but the budget never allowed for it.

What a wonderful option! It is sorta like layaway! I love that it can be paid over time and not have to incur the expense on a credit card w/ interest!

Is it for room alone or can you pay on a package that incl park tickets too?

Thx for all the info!

Just to clarify...

If you book a room only reservation by phone:

Your deposit of one night's lodging with tax will be due at the time of booking. The balance of your reservation is due at Check-In. If you wish to pay by check, you may ask for a courtesy hold of up to 14 days, as long as you are more then 44 days from arrival. Prior to arrival, you are welcome to pay more then your deposit requirement and to make additional payments as often as you wish, in any amount until your reservation is paid in full.

If you book a room only reservation by our website (disneyworld.com):

Your deposit of one night's lodging with tax must be paid at the time of booking. No additional payments can be made prior to arrival. Your final payment is due at Check-In.

If you are on a Vacation Package reservation booked by phone or web:

Your deposit of $200 will be due at the time of booking. The balance of your package is due 45 days prior to arrival. If you wish to pay by check, you may ask for a courtesy hold of up to 14 days (not avail by web), as long as you are more then 59 days from arrival. Prior to your 45 day due date, you are welcome to pay more then your deposit requirement and to make additional payments as often as you wish, in any amount until your reservation is paid in full.

If airfare is booked:

If Retail priced air is selected, full payment of the air may be required at the time of booking otherwise it will be due by 10 pm on the date of booking.

If Negotiated priced air is selected (only available with a Vacation Package, based on availability) payment of air is not due until 45 days prior to arrival.

I prefer paying off my hotel reservations in advance, even if it's just a Room Only reservation that doesn't have to be fully paid. It's just one less thing to worry about. That way, when we arrive, check-in is simple and stress-free. After all, it's VACATION! :)

I'm doing a group road trip to Cedar Point with friends, and I'm insisting that everyone pre-pay their portion of the hotel well in advance of the trip, even though we don't have to pay the balance until we get there. It'll just make things so much easier to keep track of, making sure that everyone pays equal amounts, etc. and not have to worry about 5 people all having to put money in when we check in (or re-imburse someone else later).

A quick note for the Brits, if you book through the UK Disney site then you can't "pay it up". You still pay the deposit but the final payment has to be made in one lump sum.
Last year when we booked through the US site we could pay whatever we wanted, whenever we wanted. That made it much easier for saving for our vacation.
We only booked through the UK site this year so we could get the free dining. :)

This is how we've been paying for our trip. Our final is due on the 31st of this month. We've been paying a little at a time since the beginning of January and it really has made it so much more manageable. :)

making payment

I always book through my travel agent and you put the $200.00 down and then you can make payments when ever you want to up to final payment date. I just budget each month and send in money, it makes the trip seen less when you do it that way. :ROFLOL:

Since the final payment isn't due until 45 days prior, why not "pay yourself" all along and earn interest on your payments?
May be a small amount, but every little bit counts at my house...

So you all got me thinking...

I figured I would book a little retirement getaway for my DH2B in August and pay it off a bit each month. Is anyone having trouble w/ the www.Disneyworld.com website or is it just my computer going wacky! :veryconfu

I don't think it's just your computer. I'm a CM and haven't been able to get on the HUB (formerly the Cast Portal) for a couple of days. They must be having trouble with the entire network.

It's working okay for me--when I use Internet Explorer. I prefer using Mozilla's browser, but it stopped working for me a few days ago (at least the part where you make reservations). Could be that cleaning out temp files, reboot, or something would help the situation, but I'm not so opposed to IE that I can't use it for Disney's site...

I too am using Mozilla's browser. I am going to try and clear my cookies.

Thanks for the feedback!

I have never made payments on my vacation. I like to put the money that I would make payments with into the savings account and collect interest, then pay off the vacation when it is appropriate. I don't want to give Disney my money before it is actually due-they get enough of my cash anyways! :p
I bet paying off a vacation a while before you go is a good feeling, though.
