Making Magic with MJ

The Pirate thing will be a good alternative to buying a one-day pass for everyone, since it's much cheaper, and you still get 5 hours or so in MK.

No there isn't one on Saturday night, which is really the only evening we'll have in the parks.

Someday.....
Oooh. :(
I've never been to the parties either (MNSSHP or MVMCP.) :(
Only been in August/September (our trips overlapped the months) and November. I either didn't know about the parties then, or they weren't going to be going on during my trip in November.
Remember, I've only been to WDW three times. :(

We did the Flower & Garden show twice now, and this trip we'll be doing the Food & wine thing, then in February it will be Pirates. Eventually I'd like to do one of the other parties, but that probably won't happen 'til DS finishes college. I think our days of weekend getaways will be put on hold for a while when he goes to college....

We did get to see the GF and WL decorated for Christmas 2 years ago when we went down to help that family after Hurricane Charley. We did a little fast trip Christmas night to visit a few resorts. That was fun!:xmas:

The decorations were up when I went in Nov., too! So amazing.
I don't remember a story about you, Hurricane Charley, and a family? I think it was that strom that we just dodged - we flew home the day before it struck, and MCO closed.

The 4 of us 2 years ago spent our Christmas break rebuilding a house in Punta Gorda that had been pretty much destroyed by Hurricane Charlie. We drove down, got to my mom's in time for Christmas Eve, spent Christmas day visiting with family in Central FL and Uncle Walt, then drove down to my sister's in Bradenton, where we stayed for a week and commuted to Punta Gorda every day. It was an amazing experience.I've never been so proud of my family. They all worked so hard!

OK...according to a quick Wikipedia search, it was Hurricane Frances that we dodged.
And it was funny, because while were in the World, on the news was information about upcoming Hurricane Gaston. We couldn't help but laugh, because here we are in WDW, and hearing about a ferocious thing called Gaston!

That sounds right.

Charlie did considerable amage in Punta Gorda, then basically crossed the state, wreaking havoc all the way across the stare. We have friends who lived in Daytona who had pretty severe damage too from the same storm. We tried to get a group together from our church to go down there, but when there were no volunteers, we decided that we'd go anyway, and just do what the 4 of us could.

That's wonderful of you to do, Betty!
Sounds almost like what our own Paul did after Katrina.

It was an amazing experience. DH<DS< and DD had done several mission trips with our youth group before, so they were really old pro's at dealing with things like that, and the family we were with couldn't have been nicer. They had been living in a tiny camper for 3 months at that point, but still kept telling us how they were the lucky ones, since they both had jobs to go to.
