Trip Report Makin' Memories....One More Time! *COMPLETED*

Makin' memories
Makin' memories
Takin' pictures is makin' memories
Catchin' little pieces of time
Makin' them yours and makin' them mine
Great vacations and celebrations we love to hold near and dear
And when we're makin' memories
Happy days can reappear!

@amjt660 it seemed a little presumptuous of me to include Three Peat in the title of this trip report. A more accurate term might be Repeat, considering this is my third TR in three months. I am fearful that my WDWMagic friends may be weary of me.

But for @Big Hair and anyone else who wants to follow along, Welcome! I truly love reliving our great (and not-so-great) vacation memories through writing these reports. As always, your comments and observations are much appreciated!

So c'mon everybody, here we go........

Cast: Tuvalu, Woody and Em
Dates: June 17-25, 2017
Resorts: Port Orleans Riverside and Polynesian Village ('cause let's be honest......you can take the girl out of the Poly, but you can't take the Poly out of the girl!)

(Does this picture make you woozy? It is an appropriate representation of my Pandora experience.)

Stick around to discover what memories we made!

On a lark I decided to check FP availability and to my surprise successfully snagged Test Track.

IMG_8723.JPG

After three attempts in two months....with the attraction either closing for weather or technical difficulties.....would we be finally able to ride it?

YES!

I'm good for another couple of years now. Test Track has never been on my must-do list.

It isn't on my must do list either. Usually if we go on we do single rider, which while quicker isn't as much fun because the car design part isn't as involved. But I'd rather use my FP for Soarin or Frozen (I guess mostly because of the long lines).

I managed to avoid being attacked by birds and went to the pool. Relaxing in the cool water felt wonderful.

We skipped Happy Hour in the club lounge in favor of an Island Sunset and a Pina Colada from the Tambu Lounge.

(@blgauger, you're missing out not trying an Island Sunset!)

Woody had grabbed a Kona Longboard before leaving our building and the three of us sat in the lobby of the Great Ceremonial House and enjoyed our drinks.

This giant poster was in the lobby. In case you missed Em's facial expression after riding Na'vi River Journey, here it is again for your viewing pleasure ~

What to do for dinner? We wanted something quick and easy and weren't feeling Capt. Cooks. However, Gasparilla's at the GF would be a good alternative. We love walking the path between the Poly and GF.

Except when it's still 90 degrees in the evening.:in pain:

Monorail it is, then!

For those of you unfamiliar with Gasparilla's, you need to exit the main building to access the restaurant (similar to The Mara at AKL.) Before you reach Gasparilla's, you pass a "secret door."

This is the sign next to the door:

Every time we pass this "secret door" we joke that maybe it is really like the "Platinum Door" seen in the spa episode of Frasier.

And guess what......tonight the door was left open!

Mischievous Em had to check it out!

IMG_8731.JPG

Unfortunately, "mischievous Em" is not the same as "courageous Em" and she never stepped inside.
We'll have to wait for @Tony the Tigger's trip report to discover the nirvana that lurks behind the secret door.

Our meal consisted of a ham and cheese sandwich with homemade chips (me); create-your-own-salad (Em); and a roast beef sandwich with chips (Woody). Everything was very tasty.

While we were eating, Mickey and Minnie drove past in a golf cart on their way to a private party. It happened so fast we did not get a picture. But it was neat to see!

Em and I decided to go over to the MK. The POTC picture was now operating and of course we had to have one! Woody opted to return to our room. He sent me this pic of his dessert and coffee that he was enjoying on our balcony.

Em quickly awakened from her power nap and we continued our clockwise journey around the lagoon.

:jawdrop:  :banghead: :arghh:

Well France wouldn't be getting any of our money today!
Canada on the other hand.....
No ice cream, but I purchased a nightshirt. I'm a sucker for all things moose!

Noooooo. That's awful and not what I would expect from Disney!
But glad you made up for it with another purchase (although not the food variety!)

TT is fun, although I preferred the original attraction more than the current version.

I've used single rider a number of times over the years. Unless I'm mistaken, I "think" that the interactive design part of the car, is now offered also in the single rider line. You see, I've never been interested in that feature of the newer TT version, so I've always avoided it, regardless.

Initially (at least for the first few years) they only offered that experience to the regular lines (FP and standby). Since I rode TT back in May, I vaguely recall seeing something in the single line now, but again, I'd just bypass it anyway. At this point, I'm only interested in the ride.

This is my favorite counter service restaurant in Epcot....a fairly recent discovery since I am a picky eater and had decided I don't like hummus, couscous, tabouleh and lentils before I had actually tasted them! But glowing reviews (read: peer pressure) gave me courage to try Tangierine and prove what a fool I'd been.

OMG can you pleaseeee talk to my Mom? :p Its definitely not too exotic for me :) I have never eaten there because my Mom is beyond picky and insists she hates all these things even though she has never tried them. She LOVES chick peas and refuses to try hummus :joyfull: Next time I go to Disney with my Dad (likely next year) we will definitely try it out because he always wanted to but I doubt I can ever convince my Mom

Do you ever split up for QS meals? You could go there and your mom could go somewhere else. We did that last Summer...my husband loves Sushi, I don't, my DS is the pickiest person on the planet, and I wanted some egg rolls. So DD and I went to China, and DH went and got his sushi and we took DS to Sunshine Seasons I think...we all got what we liked and then met back up. There's really no way for us all to eat in the same place with DS since he wouldn't even eat the pizza or chicken nuggets at Disney, and he won't eat spaghetti or mac and cheese, or a PBJ. He lived on nothing but french fries and either rolls or desserts in the buffets while we were there. When we ate quick service, we nearly always had to go somewhere else to find him fries he would eat. Animal Kingdom was torture.

Oh for sure we could split up but with it usually just being the two of us I would feel bad :) Thats why I will probably wait for more family to be there so we can split up with other people :)

A modification on @Songbird76's suggestion....have Mom eat a little something before you visit Tangierine so she's not hangry. Then offer to let her try small tastes of your order. She could even close her eyes if that would make it easier for her. If she hates it, at least she has sampled it. But I would be surprised if she hates it.....;)

The vegetarian plate is my absolute fav! IMO, this is the best counter service in Epcot.
