Embassy Suites, the Universal hotels, Gaylord, and a few others are all at Disney level if not better.

Perhaps. But you could offer me the Taj Mahal. If it weren't on Disney property. No thanks.
I'd rather stay in the All Stars. Even if it's filled with a Brazilian tour group.
Wait......................................ummmmmm................scratch that.

This refurb has everything to do with the 4 parks and absolutely nothing to do with DTD. If DTD did not exist this refurb would still be going on. You are grasping at straws to try and prove your argument. Just a nickles worth of free advice from the little green guy...Stop. Lay low. Wait until something big happens AT DTD then jump from the shadows and claim your intellectual superiority over having called it years ago. This thread makes you look desperate to be correct, which you very well might be, but it won't be proved overnight.

I blame Honor Hunter over at Bluesky. He will go on the disney forums and take every little new topic/news bit and turn it into an article which is then spun to insinuate its part of Disneys "master plan"

I think it rubbed off on JT and he got carried away.

I agree...Blue Sky is a tad showy and superfluous in their style.

Makes me wonder...

Sounds about right. I just don't get the extremes in either direction on Disney or on any subject for that matter. The reality always seems to land somewhere in the middle. In the case of DTD I am sure Disney had some grand plan but the economy tanked and it through a big monkey wrench into it. I also do not see it turning into the strip mall version of River Country either. It will come back but it will take some time.

I don't get where many of the mega-posters here are coming from, and what they are trying to accomplish. This thread is an example. Couple of things I need help understanding...

1) Why is there a need to tell people that something that is posted is not important or relevant? HI is spending a lot of money to refurb a building that hasn't generated any revenue for years. They decided that it would be a good business decision to invest in the DTD area, which reflects well on WDW. Why is there "nothing to see?" Sounds like news I like to hear.

2) The negativity of a few that doen't seem to miss a chance to tell someone "that will never happen" usually because "Disney can't get out of their own way." What is the purpose of saying this stuff over and over? You can sit in the stands at a ballgame and point at a future hall-of-famer and say, "Ah, he sucks, watch, he'll make an out." And seven out of ten times, you'll be right. And he will go on to the HOF with a .300 average.

This forum has good stuff on it if you can wade through the personal issues, but I'm getting tired of the flotsam and jetsam. Kind of like a huge sandbox where you could be building a sand fort with friends and some bullys come over, stomp on your fort, and tell you don't build those in this sandbox. They aren't cool and you're dumb if you like building them.

My daughter just started the CP and I work for a vendor that make equipment that goes into nearly every attraction, so I pay attention to what happens at WDW. I like getting info here. I like some of the conversations. I just tire with the predictability of some posters and the need to make sure everyone get a dose of their version of reality.

There are other sandboxes and I'll probably be invited to visit one of those. :)

All of his blog posts are available with the dates they were posted. You are wrong about this, trust me.

Keep wondering. Or you could actually read the blog for yourself and decide. I know, then you might have to admit he's accurate and you can't claim to see both sides of the issue anymore.

Yes, and it will be bold and new. Glad your seeing the light. :)

Well it is a forum. But I agree with most of what you say. It's hip to be a cynic these days. Go figure. I'd feel like a tool if I went around confusing cynacism with humor. Boggles the mind.

Welcome by the way. Sounds like you might have inside info so feel free to hang around awhile.

I'll be glad to see it reopen. It was to be open already (as posted on Holiday Inn's website last year), but I'm guessing the credit market issues stopped it.
I stayed there several times in the 80s...once had great room just off the pool, another with the DTD view on opening weekend for MGM. The staff was always great, the atrium was unique to me at the time, and it was an easy walk to DTD in the evenings. Over the last few years it was a bit sad to drive by and see it in its present condition. I'll jump at the chance to stay there when it reopens.

Gary.
