Does anyone remember how Andrew affected the parks in 1992?
They were definitely closed for at least part of a day. I was at the Grand the day the worst hit. Winds were so strong it blew the sliding lobby doors off their tracks into the lobby (a few feet, nothing overly crazy).Does anyone remember how Andrew affected the parks in 1992?

Hello everyone just to update you on my plans thanks to your advise I have changed my plane ticket home from Charlotte to Orlando on the same day. For next week I have booked at the all star movie 3 nights from Monday to Thursday. Afterwards I hope I'll be able to enjoy universal
Be ready to hunker down. You may be able to see Universal, depending on weather. WDW will give you updates etc. Might want to become friendly with desk staff; they can help you out. Might also want to be friendly with other guests - people in the US usually develop a "we're all in this together" mentality during an emergency situation.
I'm arriving in Jacksonville later tonight. Am I going to have any issues driving from there to WDW first thing in the morning?
Nope. Just gas up the rental and get on the road as soon as you can. If you haven't yet, download the GasBuddy app to facilitate finding gas stations with gas. I'd fill up when you get to Orlando.
Enjoy your trip.
Something interesting happened with the 12Z Euro run. Dorian hugs the coast but never makes landfall. The European has been consistent for the past several runs with a solution which is trending east off the coast. If this scenario hold it would spare Florida a significant impact.
Other models runs have also shifted east as well, not as far as the European, but trending in that direction. Right now the west most track is the official NHC track. Models are coming together in agreement and confidence is increasing.
If you can find gas here, the pumps are already starting to dry up.
Hopefully by the time he gets there tankers will be able to resupply stations.

Ah! here its all about the tornados, and theres no preparing or prepping for that, other than running to my basement...come to think of it, all the alcohol is down there...It's actually a thing. I learned about it somewhere around the 2004 hurricane season.
