The further north/south you go in Florida, the further south/north you are!

I live on the west coast of Florida, after Irma, no-one is playing around. My Publix water, snack, bread, and can Isle were nearly clear. Even the Dasani water was gone!!

Wow, people are taking this serious if they're buying Dasani....

I still have some provisions to get.

You won't run into traffic as everyone will be heading the other way. Gas will be a problem as they usually stop delivering gas 24-36hrs before landfall. Supplies will be an issue then as well. I would stay put and postpone.

Not if all lanes of I-95 are going north.

I guess that depends on your definition of “south Florida”??

Cause that eye appears to be looking right at team Disney o-town 🌊
NW Florida. Anything south of Gainesville is "South Florida". 😉
Latest batch of ensemble runs are now trending towards a northerly solution now having been previously centered at Miami for the 18Z runs.

These models are going to be moving all over the place for the next 36-48 hours and the confidence remains low still this far out.

I'm not driving INTO a storm. I'll head West.
How far West... Texas? If this storm hits the Gulf as a hurricane, it'll grow to fill the whole Gulf coast.

You'd probably be better off going North at least as far as S. Carolina.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.

Things are bad if the Dasani is gone, that’s for sure.

Florida doesn't do Contraflow (Reverse Laning). Coming in when everyone is going out is easy (and it allows support trucks like utility workers to stage easier).

If you are heading out, just use traffic apps, or considering using the backup state roads (or apps like Waze)

If it winds up heading more to south Florida, all the Orlando hotels will be FLOODED with evacuees, like they were for Irma. In that case the Disney or Universal Hotels are some of the best bets just because of the infrastructure there.

I mean they all hit people. Let’s go with the North Carolina one and shift it 200 miles east.

Looking back historically systems like this have always done that or curved out to sea. There is still the possibility if a low pressure system east of Dorian fails to live up to the expectation that many models are putting in it.
