Disney World as many of us can see needs to step up their game if they want to win the war for orlando. Well Disney has officialy stepped it up. I've been reading many of the blog posts on the internet about the Hollywood Studios expansions in the works and I've compiled a document of the common threads in the blogs and it sounds spectacular. Sorry no Cars Land. Hope you like it comment your thoughts.

Muppet Studios

Muppet City would replace Streets of America, and The Honey I Shrunk The Kids Area. Muppet Vision 3D would be updated and the storyline would now follow Walter. Gonzo’s Arcade would replace Pizza Planet. There would be hourly performances from The Electric Mayhem. And there would be a Dark Ride/Boat Ride similar to Pirates of The Caribbean that would follow Kermit going to his Swamp it would be called Kermit’s Rainbow Connection. Mama Melrose would be renamed Swedish Chef’s the place would be re-themed. Sci-Fi Dine In-Theater Restaurant would be replaced with Muppet Studios Catering Co you would be able to watch Muppet Show episodes. ABC Comissary, Honey I Shurnk The Kids Play Set, Studio Catering Co, High Octane Refreshments would all be removed.

Star Wars Galaxy

Star Wars Galaxy would replace the area surrounding Star Tours including Indiana Jones Stunt Show, Echo Lake, and Sounds Dangerous. Star Tours and Jedi Training Academy would stay in their normal spots. There would be a new restaurant modeled after the Mos Eisley Cantina you would be able to meet Han Solo and Chewbacca here and there would be hourly fights with Han Solo and Chewbacca fighting Galactic Thugs. There would be a land speeder roller coaster similar to space mountain. And there would be an X Wing Fighter simulator ride similar to Mission Space. All characters from Star Wars would be walking around and would be able to get autographs from. Restaruants such as 50’s Prime Time Cafe, and Hollywood and Vine would become part of Hollywood Boulevard all other restaurants would be torn down.

Disney Studios

Disney Studios would be a land encompassing Pixar Place, Backlot Tour, and Lights Motors Action Extreme Stunt Show, American Idol Experience, One Man’s Dream and The Great Movie Ride. First off Mickey’s Sorcercers Hat would get demolished making The Chinese Mann Theater the Park’s Icon. Lights Motors Action Extreme Stuntshow would be replaced with the Walt Disney Theater showing classic Disney Movies on a giant screen. The American Idol Experience would be replaced with The Disney Experience on this you would get the chance to show your acting skills to audition for an on-stage production of a Disney Movie in front of guests that night. The Great Movie ride would get updated and some of the more scary scenes would be replaced with new scenes from modern movies. The Backlot Tour would be updated and Disney would start to make more actual movies on site the War Scene would be replaced with an actual reproduction of an actual Disney movie with guests playing roles of characters, The Backlot Tram would be narrated by Robin Williams. The Backlot Tram would now take you to all other area’s of the park the ride would be similar to that of the Walt Disney World Railroad.

Other Additions

Star Wars Weekends would now only impact Star Wars Galaxy

Beauty and The Beast Live on Stage would be replaced by the Buena Vista Theater showing Disney’s Broadway Productions.

Nightly fireworks would take place off of the Earful Tower.

The Disney Stars and Motor Cars Parade would return and replace the Block Party Bash this parade would start in Disney Studios and end in Hollywood Boulevard it would run clockwise around the park.

You would be able to meet all Disney Walkaround Characters in Hollywood Studios

About that poll...no offense, but all of those choices suck IMO.

What I'D like to see in DHS is a detailed Toon Town, with one section painted in black and white, featuring retro-style walk-around characters reminiscent of the early Mickey toons and the Silly Symphonys. (The Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf would always be on hand). And I'd like a Disney Villains attraction - a MAJOR attraction, perhaps a dark castle, or a whole street. There's a courtyard AND a street in DHS that doesn't get much attention from the public. It'd fit right in there. Or maybe a Frozen attraction, or Fantasia, or Mary Poppins...Disney has lots of its own creations that don't have an attraction in the parks. I think Disney should exploit its own vaults first, before turning to the stuff Iger and Eisner purchased. JMHO.

So can I assume you didn't vote for Muppet Studios? ;)

With my original design for the plans I made in that post was a Toon Town that would replace Animation Courtyard.

Not a fan of any of the choices...

All IMO of course:

- The muppets has not been a viable cash cow since the eighties...kids these days really "don't get it" (said the guy who grew up in the eighties and saw the muppet movie in the theaters).

Disney hocking the Cars franchise is like watching an old italian merchant trying to goad an overburdened blind mule up an impossible hill on roller skates...I just saw the preview for the new Planes movie today when we went to see How to Train Your Dragon 2 and the preview was once again more of the same regurgitated humor and cookie cutter plot lines, not that it matters to kids but parents have to be willing to sit through the drivel as well for it to make money and I just don't see the staying power.

Star Wars...well possibly another attraction or live show but a whole land is going a bit far even speaking as a fan of the films (minus Jar-Jar of course). I just cannot see a flow from "the hollywood that never was" or animation courtyard or Pixar place to Star Wars outer space land. Maybe I lack the vision it takes but I think to devote an entire land to one franchise is not what MGM set out to do nor what I would want to see.

I like the diversity in walking around the park and wish they would add more of that and not an entire area dedicated to one franchise or movie.

I am not really interested in seeing another Cars land built in the USA, honestly I would rather TDO fill out a fully developed PIXAR Place. I think its inevitable that Star Wars will eventually have an area devoted to it! So my vote went to my favorite puppets the Muppets who don't need a huge section to show there presence but would certainly benefit from at least a little more attention in the form of a restaurant, better shop, and another attraction.

Star Wars will be a lot harder to capture as a land than Harry Potter and Cars, which have specific settings. With Star Wars, what planet do you choose? If they want to compete with the full immersion of WWoHP they would need to stick with one locale.

I agree with everything above.

A caveat: DHS is a showcase for ALL movies, not just Disney ones, right? (Even though it's called "Disney Hollywood Studios, but oh well). Now, Star Tours 2.0 is a very decent attraction. I think a Mos Eisley cantina would be fine in that area. But a whole Star Wars land would be overkill.

I don't want Cars Land in WDW. I have yet to see the attraction in DL, and it does look amazing, but let's have something new in WDW.

I still would like SOMETHING derived from Mary Poppins in DHS. My Cherry Tree Lane idea, with a dark ride and a sweets shop (Admiral Boom's) would be awesome.

Plus a Disney Villains attraction. And maybe Frozen. Either one of those, if TDO spent a decent amount of money on them and didn't cut budgets and take their usual el-cheapo route, would definitely attract large crowds. Those two ideas might even challenge Potter (although it'd be too much to expect that they could top it, I'm sorry to say. TDO just doesn't have the will, the talent and the courage to even try. :( ).
