Heads up if your Disney-related travels take you through the Intersection of I-4 at US 192 -- Florida DOT says it will be starting major roadwork there at the beginning of January. This is part of the I-4 and 192 revitalization projects that have been underway for some time now.
Here's the info from www.trans4mation.org
====
The Trans4mation of I-4 will kick off the New Year with the reconstruction of the I-4 / US 192 interchange beginning in January. After a planned postponement to make sure holiday traffic flowed smoothly without major work zone delays, construction crews will converge on the site to cultivate the current design into a roadway for the future.
The new interchange will improve traffic flow between I-4 and US 192 and includes enhanced ramp designs, better drainage, and provides a wider space for future I-4 lanes. The project is expected to be completed in 2007 at a cost of $58.9 million.
There will be several ramp detours during the various stages of construction that may be used one at a time, or in tandem. FDOT will work to minimize the impact to the area and there are no planned detours or closures of I-4 or US 192, except for intermittent nighttime construction activities.
