Just watch the Dreamlights 2021 Intro. The bigger problem here is why did they change the announcer???? The new one seem off key/just wierd. TDL could have started the OG Announcement with Tokyo Disneyland Proudly Presents, like what MK did for HEA.

Even worse. Bums

I agree. For me, "Ladies and gentlemen" should be kept for MSEP at DL once it returns for 50th.

Who was the original announce for Dreamlights actually?

This is so ****ing ridiculous. Not even the classic 50 year old parade “ladies and gentlemen” gets a pass? Days like this where I regret that my wife talked me into getting passes again and that I’m still giving Disney my money. I could deal with them not adding that statement to new parades or shows but to edit it out of a 50 year old parade that has gone down Main Street thousands of times to that intro is so obnoxious and extreme. Another absolutely unnecessary move done by that bored inclusivity group that’s putting Disneyland under a high powered microscope and over reacting in every way possible. I wonder how many people this move will help? Who are these 1.5 non binary people/ MSEP fans that were bothered by that old intro but will now sleep better at night knowing it’s not there? How many more thousands of people will it annoy?

If they edited the Disneyland versions intro (which is all but certain) I will not be watching it. I also would somehow how love to get main stream media to grab this story. Maybe I’ll tag Dave Chappelle or something. Something needs to turn this tide of insanity.

Kinda makes me glad the intro to Fantasmic just starts with "Welcome to Fantasmic" and not "Ladies and gentleman boys and girls, welcome to Fantasmic.."

There's just something delightful and charming about this intro, and if the parade is gonna come back I'd hate to see it go-

I mean they've already re recorded the soundtrack and cut like a third of the parade. Any more changes and I'd go from "Keep the delightfully charming piece of Disneyland history around!" to "Burn it, even if you don't replace it with anything!"

Disney has absolutely no jurisdiction over the Tokyo parks whatsoever. They are 100% owned and operated by the Oriental Land Company, who makes all of the decisions themselves. Disney can't force them to do anything. They haven't made any of the "PC updates" on any of the attractions up through now, so the fact that they made this change is definitely unique.

This was 100% OLC's own decision. One that surprises me, admittedly, but this isn't something that can be directly blamed on Disney.

Also, this is the updated, 20 year old parade from TDL, not the 50 year old parade DL keeps running. Similar but different.

My problem is not on the change of wording, but the actual recording. It's too synthesized for Dreamlights. The original announcer spoke in a way that better fit the park and parade. The new voiceover sounds like whoever recorded it was a die-hard fan of the vocoder intro used for the Hercules Electrical Parade. For me, that's the part that's truly jarring.

Also, as a non-local: Have any of the announcements in the US (in any context) actually removed the "Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls" and replaced it with something else as of right now? I don't recall hearing anything that had changed at Magic Kingdom a few weeks ago and I haven't been to DL post-reopening.

"Good evening and welcome one and all. Tokyo Disneyland proudly presents our most spectacular pageant of nighttime dreams and fantasy. In millions of sparkling lights, and brilliant musical sounds, Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade Dreamlights!"

Could the Disneyland announcement be changed to something similar upon its return?

If you calling HEA pre-show announcement, you may hear this since July 2021 (skip to 0:16 for recent announcement):

Beacons of Magic shown at all 4 WDW theme parks didn't contain "Ladies and Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls" greetings either since their debut, also for Disney Enchantment and Harmonious.

I see. I deliberately skipped Enchantment after reading all the lukewarm reviews, and so missed my primary opportunity to hear the new greeting. Clearly this is being done in phases.

Wow that sounds horrible. I’d expect this for MSEP but not Dreamlights.

We had a whole thread about this that the website deleted.

Guess it’s a guaranteed thing when and if PTN returns to DL or HKDL, it will also have this new updated intro.

I know who the OLC is all that jazz. I’m assuming their has to be some correlation with what they re doing stateside and the choice they made to change the intro of their parade. Somehow it’s bled over. Anyway, the only thing that gives me hope is that our parade is the “original” and they may pause for a few more seconds before deciding to alter the intro.

Melissa Atwell, the one who did the music for the 1996 iteration of the Electrical Water Pageant (and the 2021 "The Magic is Calling" update). She worked on the vocal processing for the new announcement, but the voice itself is new:
