Isn't it wonderful?!? And you have to realize that well-paid executives in TDO all sat around and actually approved this whole thing. They knew this was going to happen, and they approved it. On purpose.
It's the best gift you could ever get; the gift of hysterical laughter.
Oh my gosh. You posted that, and my memory banks sprang to life, and I thought
"Wait a minute... I'm remembering things... Seattle... the Mid-Reagan era.... KING-TV Channel 5.... Almost Live!"
I had completely forgotten about that show! I moved from Seattle in the very late 1980's, and when I just Googled it apparently it ran well into the 1990's. But it was fantastic in the 80's. Like a local late night version of David Letterman crossed with SNL. They had a running skit called
Win A Date With Bill Gates, that actually featured the real Bill Gates going on a date with a single girl at a Seattle pizza parlor, or playing mini-golf, etc. (can you even imagine Bill Gates agreeing to that today?). They also made ruthless fun of Swedish-Americans, in a town that was mostly of Scandinavian descent. I'm a Swede, and it was
hysterical!
That was back when Seattle had a sense of humor. They don't really laugh much up there any more.
