Okay so I asked one of the mail room managers I deliver too if she would send a package to my resort for me since UPS does not give its employees discounts on shipping. She said yes, and today I brought it in, the weighed it, gave me my sticker and I took it back to the hub! Get this...Its scheduled to be delivered the day I arrive!!! Another funny note...the box weighed 45 pounds!!! Haha!!

Here is what I shipped...

1 24 pack case of water.
1 variety bag of sun chips, 20 snack bags 5 of each flavor
1 giant bag peanut butter M&M's
1 giant bag Dove peanut butter chocolates
4 boxes of Hostess mini blueberry muffins
3 3 packs of trident orange and strawberry gum
1 box of Crystal Light peach tea mixers (for the water)
1 box grape propel mixers (for the water)
1 bag Taco flavored Doritos
1 box Hostess doughnuts
2 boxes of strawberry fruit snacks

So after typing that I just realized what freaking pigs we are...

One thing we wont be is.....hungry!!!:sohappy:

I haven't done it recently - but either last November or the April before, I shipped a case of Costco water. 35 16.9oz bottles that I paid $6-7 for. I too get a discount from UPS and shipped ground. If I paid $12 to ship it was a lot. Don't remember exact $ amount. But my point is - Yes, the bottles are a bit smaller than the 20oz you will buy at the World for $2+. $2 per bottle x 35 = $70. $70 minus $7 = $63 minus the $12 to ship. I am still ahead $51 - so the compromise was the bottles don't stay cold all day, and they are a bit smaller. But guess what - it still works out in your favor.

It has worked out great the last two years. We generally ship down breakfast items, snacks, Caprisun and what ever we don't want to put in our luggage. The kid's love those little bags of mini muffins. We started doing it so we didn't have to buy breakfast and to save our counter or table service dining plan meals for lunch and dinner.

The muffins were buy one get one free here this week at our supermarket!!!

Its a good idea if you are night owls...If not I think the dining plan would be enough. Ive survived 3 trips now without snacks. There were a lot times a night I could have ate again or was thirsty so thats why Im doing this. Food Court closes at 12am and we are up well past 1:30-2:00am.

We have the dining plan but I also have 2 kids who eat all the time. I can get shipping pretty cheap so I think it will be better then doing grocery delivery.
Good luck on your surprise event on your trip. I wish you both the best. Sheri

Thanks!

Id say do it then. Its easier to get what you want when you actually go to the store and see things. You will see things you forgot you wanted or didnt realize you WOULD want.

Since Southwest still does not charge for second bag, I've been stuffing snacks in my extra suitcase for years. It also nice to know you have extra room for all the souvenirs we buy. Last year I tried putting gatorade in and had no problem, those plastic bottles are tough.

First let me compliment you on your snack list, all great selections. Taco Doritos are my fav, followed by the Jalapeno's.

I have to ask though.... No Tastycakes? Or do you not get them out there? I know i'm bringing a box!

When I was there in late August, the most popular caps/shirts were...

1. Boston Red Sox
2. Philadelphia Phillies

I didn't see a single person wearing clothes for a Florida team.
