I assure you, back in the day, CM's proudly proclaimed WDW did not and would not ever sell expiring tickets.
And for the record, one of mine did.
If you have (had) an old non-expire ticket on you account, but buy a new one, WDW is supposed to 'prioritize' the newest ticket, especially after you tell them to prioritize the newest ticket, which I had. If they make a mistake though, and you catch it, you still can't get your old ticket replaced with a non-expire ticket. If you don't catch it, you are just out of luck. In my case, I noticed because I tried to park hop. The older ticket was not a hopper, but the newer one was.
I was able to get the 1 day entitlement back, but not as a never-expire.
And that was several years ago. If you make that mistake now, the best 'replacement' any CM can issue is a ticket that expires in a few months.
