Sort of. As far as I know it's only good for park entrance and resort charging. I guess you could use your apple pay via your apple watch, but then that defeats the purpose of the magicband.
Can you use MagicMobile for resort charging now? I didn’t think they had added that yet.

This is really cool! And I am very happy to finally see a rechargeable magic band! I know it looked like WDW was moving all capabilities to use your smartphone, but I prefer magic bands and these being rechargeable with all the cool features is great!

It looks like its still the "puck" design so they can be put into different bands?

Beyond for kids, I'm drawing a blank on the usefulness of these. Flashing LEDs and vibrations? Think that is going to get old very quickly.
Useful that they charge like Aftershokz headphones though. Waterproof with a magnet cable. Then you can assume it'll get your HM ride photo without worrying if you have enough battery left on the phone.

Then again now you have to worry about charging the watch too

The vibration I could see being used for notifications through Genie.

"Your Mobile Order is ready for pickup!"
"Your Lightning Lane is about to start!"
"Your table is ready at Liberty Tree Tavern!"

Not everyone has a smartwatch, remember.

I really wish they'd just come up with new MB's that have pucks you can charge, whether with this tech in the back or wireless charging. Fitting the old bands, that is.

But a lot of people do, and they also have phones, which manage notifications very well even without a watch. I can't imagine the simple lights and vibration would be any use at all as a notification system just to tell you to then take out your phone to get the info.

They said virtual scavenger hunts with the play app. Maybe a limited interest, but something some guests would be interested in for sure. Sounds like it'll have Bluetooth low energy if it can interact with a phone. Likely means they can add to it over time as phone/beacons can send info to it (isn't this how the light up ears worked?).
