Magical Express Mistake

Hi all:

I am trying out the Magical Express for the first time in August. I just got my luggage tags today and the flight information was completely inaccurate. One person in our party of 4 is flying separately from a different destination. She was not even on the luggage tags at all. There were other mistakes as well.

I called WDW and someone allegedly sorted it out. I have faith that our luggage will be found ok, just maybe not quickly, but there was another concern. In the back of the booklet they sent were 3 card vouchers for the bus itself. Again, the 4th guest was not included at all. The CM I spoke to wasn't really sure what to do, he just said that if I sent her a photocopy of ours that it won't be a problem as she is under our reservation anyway.

Should I breathe easy? Being the paranoid organizer I am, I will probably call again to re-confirm everything.

Just forget about the baggage service. It's a PITA. Get your own bags - it's only a few hundred feet, and will save you loads of headaches. Don't worry about the missing bus ticket - you are all on the same ressie and they will either let you on without it or will give you a new one when you check in for DME.

Have fun!

Please let me put your mind at ease....

First let me explain your missing guest. Since you mentioned that one of your guest is flying separately on a different flight, that guest will need to get a separate set of Magical Express travel documents and will not be listed on your first set. This will happen anytime the arrival or departure flight information is different from other guest on your reservation. Also note that the DME documents are designed for a maximum of 4 guest per booklet. If you are traveling with 5 or more guest you will get a separate booklet for each set of 4 guests. The documents for your missing guest should arrive within a few days.

*anytime any company sends out multiple items, even when sent on the same day, they never arrive together, this is one of the great US Postal mysteries of life. :hammer:

Second let me explain the luggage tags. The bright yellow luggage tags you receive contains bar codes with your room reservation information only. No flight information is listed at all. Even if your flight information is completely wrong this will have NO effect on the timely deliver of your bags to your resort room.

The flight information is needed to schedule your motor coach pick-up only and has nothing to do with the luggage service. There are always a few seats not reserved on each motor coach to be filled by guest that forgot to call with their fight info or last minute changes in flight information either made by the guest or the airline. Also on your arrival date, your flight number will be watched for flight delays. Most guest are on a motor coach within 10 - 15 minutes of arriving at the Disney Welcome Center.

Third let me explain the travel vouchers. These vouchers are simply used to ensure Mears is paid for the correct number of guest that they are transporting for Disney each day. The Cast Members at the airport, and the Cast Members at your resort have extra "vouchers" for any guest that may have not recieved, lost, or forgot them.

So breathe easy for you WILL be well taken care of with Disney's Magical Express! :sohappy:

 this is somewhat scarey, I hope it works out because the wife and I were looking into the express in November, which reminds me, how do you go about setting this up anyway, who to call, maybe the number? thanks

Nothing to be scary about, all of the start up challenges have been corrected and there is now over a 20 page book of fail-safe procedures to cover any possible scenario. (trust me, I've read it! :hammer: )

To book Disney's Magical Express, simply add it your Disney Reservation by contacting the same source you booked your reservation with. If you booked directly with Disney, call 1-407-W-DISNEY. If you used a travel agent (including expedia, travelocity, AAA, or any other private agency) contact them.

Hope this helps! :sohappy:

I would not worry about the missing voucher. In June my wife and I flew into MCO and had just planned on taking the Mears Shuttle as usual as we had booked our DVC/Boardwalk Villas accommodations far in advance of the announcement of DME. When we went to the Mear's counter the attendant advised that if we went on the regular shuttle we would have to pay, but if walked to the next concourse we could just get in line for DME for free. We did just that and they only asked which resort we were going to. No one asked for or collected vouchers. They simply marked on a clipboard how many people and to where. We had collected our luggage at the baggage claim and wheeled it along with us and then just put it in the holds under the bus. I guess they figure who would be going on DME if you are not staying on property so the system is fairly open and loose?

You could just retrieve your own luggage. We did this in May and it was no big deal at all. We might've looked silly, being two five foot tall women dragging two huge suitcases and four carry-ons, but it was okay. :D

I second this! He always gives the best answers. :D

DME is great. We didn't have to worry about a thing and by the time we got back to our room from the parks for a rest our luggage was there waiting for us.
