Magic Kingdom to lose ROA, Riverboat, and TSI for Cars Land

Disney is conspicuously removing all Americana from the parks. WDI views all references to US history as inherently problematic. It's not an agree/disagree situation.
It's undeniable that Disney is moving away from the Old West theme of Frontierland at Magic Kingdom. Big Thunder Mountain is the only remnant of that theme. All other attractions based on 19th century America have been removed or replaced. Like I said, to say otherwise is not arguing in good faith.
Is all of Liberty Square being removed? If not then Americana will remain in MK even if some of the old west elements are removed.

To me I still disagree that Disney is completely removing Americana.

How are not more WDW people mad about this? Many seem ok with it. Is there a chance they just leave the River in tact from Thunder to Mansion, chop the island in half and dock the boat? That seems like a best case scenario now.

Probably because no one under 50 even remembers what WDW's Rivers Of America complex looked and operated like.

They permanently closed their Canoe ride 40 years ago. They permanently closed their Keelboat ride 35 years ago. They lost their second Riverboat 30 years ago, and never replaced it. When did the restaurant on TSI permanently close, around 25 years ago?

TDO killed off their ROA complex, and all the ride capacity it had and all the showmanship that capacity offered, decades ago. The only people living east of the Rockies that remember it are members of AARP now. So who's gonna complain? :(

Give it a few more years. They won’t close them all in one swoop.
We'll see, also what happened to that rumor that Pecos Bill's was closing to be rethemed to Tiana's Palace. That never came to be as far as I know, unless its part of this project. So that still means unless that does close they will still have an old west themed restaurant.

Sad. What about the place making and ambiance that would be lost?

It's tragic. And an idiotic decision. Magic Kingdom needs more ride capacity desperately.

What they should have done for this is to greenlight a "Beyond Big Thunder" expansion to push the park boundary northward, while they radically plus up and reinvigorate the Rivers Of America complex just like Disneyland did for Star Wars Land.
  • Add a second big boat back to the River, preferably a S.S. Columbia to cement the "hard facts that created America" into the park DNA.
  • Add back the Keelboats, and restore/plus up the riverside vignettes the Keelboat captains interacted with.
  • Reinvigorate and plus up TSI, and bring back the second raft dock and additional rafts to the fleet like they used to have to increase capacity to/from the Island on peak days.
  • I can forgive them the Canoes, as the Orlando weather is just too dreadful 9 months out of the year to operate that ride (they learned that lesson the hard way, just like they learned quickly they should have put a roof over the Teacups).
They can even shorten/reroute the northern section of the River if they need to, or if it would help create walkways and access routes to the park expansion. Make the Rivers Of America make sense again for Magic Kingdom!

And at the same time, add the desperately needed park capacity via land expansions that Magic Kingdom has needed for the past 30 years. And prepare that park for its next 30 years of growth and expansion and success.

But what you DO NOT do is remove the Rivers of America and throw in the towel on that abandoned park capacity just so you can add one single Cars E Ticket and a Cars spinner ride where the Rivers of America used to be. That is not just a colossally idiotic decision culturally, it's a colossally idiotic decision operationally. :banghead:

And I just did all that on only one cup of coffee this morning. The people running the parks Disney Experiences now are lost.
