Magic Kingdom: Saturday 12/23 - am I nuts ?

I think I already know the answer to this question as crowd levels have been very very high this year.

But is Magic Kingdom expected to close due to capacity the weekend days BEFORE Christmas? I know in the past they've closed on Xmas day and other days during Xmas week.

Haven't been to MK this year during the holidays at all, which is a first for me in a long while. But I do avoid crowds like the plague. :D

See you there! The crowds aren't too bad on the 23rd, but still a lot of people. You should be able to get most attractions done with the extended hours.

I dunno, it might close early on the 23rd this year, mainly because it is on a Saturday..... just a thought...

We're locals as well and we're planning to go to Epcot on Friday the 22nd.
I'm expecting high crowd levels, but lower than MK.
Anyone have an idea?

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. Get there before opening, use Fastpasses, try to get ADRs if you haven't yet, and when it gets so busy that even omnimovers like Haunted Mansion & Buzz Lightyear have lines over an hour and length, just take as leisurely a stroll as possible, people-watching, dole-whip-eating, scenery-admiring, etc.

I'm not going to be there (heh, maybe next year), but it's a Saturday. It's the Saturday before Xmas. EVERYBODY'S off. Just about everyone planning to spend Christmas at WDW is gonna call their kids out on Friday the 22nd, maybe even on Thursday the 21st, to fly down. There might not be many locals there, but I suspect lots of people will want to take in the atmosphere. My prediction: The lots will be closed before 10:30, and by noon, they won't be letting anybody in anymore until at least 2.

Yes, I think it will be super crowded due to the fact it is on a Saturday during the Holiday season. I couldn't stand being there with that high of crowds, but have fun if you do end up going. Not for me though, I stay away from WDW during peak crowd seasons.

Count us in! We were thinking of hitting MGM for the early opening and then going over to MK for our dinner reservations..but we may just spend the whole day in MK. Either way it will be great because we will be at DISNEY!

We are doing MK on Friday (dec 22) for the Christmas party and doing Epcot and MGM on Saturday, the 23rd. My question is this. When we leave Epcot in the afternoon to go to MGM, is there any way to tell if MGM is full?

Davery,
Before you leave the park to head over to MGM, stop at guest relations and ask them to phone over to MGM to see if the park is at capacity or near capacity. This way you won't be stuck outside of a park. We did this twice during the holidays of 2004. Much better to stay in the park you are at and enjoy things even with long lines than to hop to another park only to find you can't get in!

Best of luck to you, you Disneyphile. Remember how much there is to do at MK besides the rides, because those lines will be ridiculous. Get there at least a full hour before park opening. And if you don't have ADR's in the park yet, cross your fingers and hop the monorail to see if you can get in at O'Hanas (not likely), Chef Mickey's (not likely), Concourse Steakhouse (possible), or 1900 Park Fare (possible). If all else fails, enjoy Cosmic Ray's or multiple Dole Whips.

I will not see you there. I got off to go to NY to visit family.

I'm prepared and very excited for this time of year at WDW. We're used to the crowds from Easter every year, so a few more thousand people is nothing!

I love the Christmas crowds. I know I must be nuts, but it seems like everyone is in a good mood, happy and cheerful. Its the sheer beauty of the season! Can't wait to be at WDW!
I do agree though, if you want to do any of the big ticket items, get to the park early and hit it hard the first two hours. Then relax and enjoy!

we went to MGM on Christmas Day 3 years ago and it was busy but the fast pass and early dinenr reservations made it real smooth, we had so much fun, everyone was in a great mood. I hear MK is alot more busy that day, but it;s Disney & Christmas, will still be a blast! I want to go again! Have fun. Happy Holidays!
