Magic Kingdom resort dining help

I need some reviews, opinions of others. Our 180 days is tomorrow and we need help with our two magic kingdom dinners. It is just me and the wife and want to explore the resorts and what better way than to dine at them. (We don't care for any magic kingdom restaurants)

We have narrowed it down to at least o'hana over the luau after reading a couple threads on the two and have heard massive praise for o'hana.

We want our last dinner to be at the poly or California grill to view the fireworks.

So should we have a early dinner around 5 at o'hana then do MNSSHP after and then have California grill another night for the fireworks.

Or

Have o'hana for our fireworks dinner and have our early dinner at either california grill or artist point?

Hope that wasn't too confusing. Basically what I'm asking is which firework viewing is better between California grill and o'hana. And what is better between California grill and artist point.

I'd say for a fireworks dinner you should definitely go with Cali Grill. It would be a much better view from your table if your seated at the window or from the observation deck if you're not.

There's a thread elsewhere about the possibility of ohanas dropping skewered chicken from the menu (keeping wings as an appetizer). Don't know if it's turned out to be accurate info and if that would influence your decision.

One nice thing about Cali Grill - even if you can't get reservations for dinner to coincide with fireworks, your receipt acts as a "re-admission" to go back up and see the show.

Absolutely agree with @Betsyboo I do love Ohana, even with the chicken possibly off of the menu (there are still the wings, so that's a good thing)

This would help tremendously thanks!
We are staying at the dolphin so I'm told I'll have to book day by day so my selection is scarce when it comes to o'hana and California grill. So I'll be by my phone and computer early morning for the next week to hopefully get the best times.

I like Artist Point better than I like Cali Grill. Cali Grill has a great view of fireworks, but the food and service at Artist Point is outstanding.

Don't waste too much time on your MNSSHP night eating. I would eat dinner somewhere at 5 pm and head to the party as fast as possible.

CG for sure has better viewing I love Ohana But I don't believe where I was sitting I was able to see the fgire works I actually think my FAV viewing place in Narcooses nothing better than standing on the dock with your loved ones soaking it all in <3

As others have noted, 'Ohana is usually a great meal, but I wouldn't count on it as a fireworks meal. We prefer to hit the Poly beach for fireworks after dining at 'Ohana. Cali Grill or Narcoosee's would be my votes for a fireworks meal.

I have this same problem as well. No dinning in MK interests me. BoG was decent the first two times, I am giving it a third try in a few weeks.

As for resort dinning, I can only speak to Cali Grill and O'hana. I really like california grill (and recommend it), but do not understand the hype surrounding O'hana. (Also, is it just me or has the hype really built up in the last year?)

I am trying Kona and the Wave in a few weeks and will give my input.(Just realized you are only asking between Cali and O'hana) Good Luck!

I think what it is all going to come down to is what times are available. We booked the dolphin because all dvc points were sold out due to the food and wine festival and we love staying in that area. So we can't book 180 days + 10 out. So doing it day by day we don't get much selection.

So as it looks now we won't get o'hana at our preferred time so we are highly considering Kona. Would love to hear your review when you get back.

The same is going for California grill, if we can't get the time we hoped for we may give artist point a try.

We went to Kona a few years ago since we couldn't get into 'Ohana and considered it a very suitable alternative in terms of food. Obviously the atmosphere wasn't as lively, we still felt like we were able to take in Polynesian aura during our meal.

We went to Artist Point last year and enjoyed our experience. I must've been crazy hungry that day because I felt like I needed more after the meal, but it was good while it lasted! Most items on the menu aren't as expensive as other Signature restaurants as well. It was a very peaceful and intimate dining experience.

I love Kona Cafe. I have eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner there many times and I have never had a bad meal.
