Nobody thinks this is business as normal. I'm not sure Disney has advertised that it has besides not changing pricing.

The person I replied to was not happy the amount of people at opening and was worried about being safe in the park. When there has been video and proof that there is plenty of space for people to keep their distance from others. The only hiccup seems to be at opening when everyone is there at one time trying to get in. Solution: get there a little later.
This is gonna happen...even without a technical glitch...

People just need to know that as part of the math. And...this is key...the operations need to be really proactive - something they are NOT as standard operating procedure.

If crowds stay low, and wait times consistently stay manageable for a good while, there is really no reason to rope drop. Aim for it, and then don't feel rushed. I for one am excited for a slower trip. Maybe we will actually go ride everything we want, have lunch and supper, then go float in the resort pool

Rope drop is actually one of the worst ideas out there right now.

They should purposefully stagger the bus arrivals, tell people what’s going on, and let the cards fall.

We're driving as 1 on a good day I hate Disney busses, they are far from reliable, and well I much rather be all sweaty with my family, than with a bunch of new friends. Plus I can crank AC, and we can de mask. I like getting there early to help beat the heat and get big attractions done, but if this continues to be the wait times into August when. We arrive, I'm not going to sweat it. Won't need the full 10 hours to do all we want to do, and snack all we want to. We planned 2 days for MK, but may change that to EPCOT for more snacking.

Based on wait times and photos/videos I’m seeing, plus reports from a friend in the park, today seems to be a little more crowded than the AP preview, but still plenty enough room to move around safely and comfortably. Your mileage will vary on what your comfort level of “safe” is.

I think today will likely turn out to be a “worst case” scenario. It’s a Saturday. MK is at or very near capacity (In contrast AK is dead quiet). There’s also only the two parks to choose from. We will likely see this repeat at HS next week.

There’s a little bit of pent up demand right now, but once we get into August, the reservation calendar is completely in the green. Demand just isn’t there in the long term, which is likely why Disney opened up new ticket sales, hotel reservations, additional AP days, etc.

I suspect a new “normal” day will look very similar to how it was during AP previews, maybe only slightly busier.

There’s very limited availability for AP’s in August. I don’t think there’s a lot of demand for resorts and vacationers, but they can fill the parks with the AP’s if they open reservations.

This is what I hope for actually.my neice and nephew want to ride ride ride! We have park days August 10th through the 15th. It's week days, and Southern Schools start returning to action in some sense. Should be interesting. We don't do parades, or character meets, so this is actually a perfect trip short of masks, but we've been training in moist middle TN sauna heat for a while now.

They can’t sustain the complex at those crowd levels...short of the $500 ticket and the $30 hamburger.

The math won’t work. They have to ramp up...hopefully it all breaks right

I think AP reservations might start to open up again for those dates. Or they will let APs reserve more days in general. Hotel bookings and general ticket reservations aren’t filling up those gaps. Hotel bookings are just down across the board, and I’m guessing more
Cancellations coming due to the FL situation. In general.

There is no international travel. Most states...especially at the top of the food chain...are currently doing everything but outright banning their residents from re-entering from Florida.

There can’t be demand without a populace to pull from.

Right. I think that’s why it’s frustrating looking at the app seeing 5 min waits for AK but I’m not allowed to go even though I could be there buying a beer and dinner from them in 15 minutes.

Absolutely. Plus the large percentage of people who just simply do not want to get on a plane during the pandemic, coupled with those that might have traveled, but just aren’t comfortable with the situation in FL right now.

If FL can turn the numbers around, demand might uptick a little, but by then we are already going to be into September/October, which will likely bring about new issues.

Wasn’t AK at capacity today for all reservation types? Or was it just full for AP? Perhaps it’s a situation of people filling a spot and then not showing up?

I have no idea why they didn't go with staggered arrival times. They even seem to have that built into the system. I'm most concerned about how this will work out at HS... It seems RotR boarding groups have become even more complicated, I imagine people are still going to attempt to rope-drop and get into the 'early' slot. Unless they force people to later arrivals, I don't see how that's going to be pretty.
