Magic kingdom is having a bad morning

I realise some people here really thought I was being overly dramatic. I genuinely wasn’t posting a “Disney ruined my day” post. More of a “ok so it’s going to be one of those days” type thing.

After my post we got stuck in the queue to space mountain as that also broke down. Thankfully we had a nice meal at be our guest and rode the other two mountains.

I appreciate some people get y about posts like this because they are stuck at work. I do totally get that, and I would undoubtedly be thinking the same thing. But when you’re not able to hop on a quick flight because you live half way around the world, the trip you make once every few years means the absolute world to your family, so yeah things like this do get frustrating.

Thankfully our day recovered so it’s all good🙂

Oh and the buzz ride reset and powered off (the walkway rails raised up) so sadly couldn’t get an awesome score 😆

Stuff happens, We had the good fortune for dealing with two broken rides, back to back. The first one, we were in line and maintenance kept trying to fix it, so the CMs didn't close the ride. We were so close to the getting on we stuck with it. 30 minutes later they closed it, and sent us out. That was the Nemo ride in Epcot.

Since we had about 30 minutes to kill before our lunch reservation, we went on figment, and loe and behold, we got stuck on that ride for 20+ minutes. We literally ran from Figment to Tutto Italia and made it just in time :D

You'd rather PAY to be stuck on a broken ride than be somewhere you're GETTING paid to be at?

You'd rather be working than PLAYING?

It seems reasonable to me. People pay a lot of money to go to these parks. Sure going to theme parks is a luxury, but if I go to a steakhouse for example and order a $80 steak and they burn it, I'm not going to just shrug it off and say "well at least I'm not at work" same goes here.
Not a great analogy in my opinion. WDW has more than a single steak.

A better one might be:

You're at a buffet. They are hundreds of option that are all included in your price of admission. They aren't out of the high-end stuff, but just as you're about to take a piece of chicken, another guest takes the last piece. Now because of a mix-up in the kitchen, you have to wait 15 minutes for more chicken.
Is it an inconvenience, sure. But should the customer get his money back because one of the MANY options were not immediately available?

I say come back for the chicken later and enjoy the rest of the buffet.

Should read Disney & Universal rides stop on a daily basis. As for the re-ride, that typically happens only if requested at both Disney & Universal.
Guests don’t need to request a re-ride at Universal when a ride stops. An employee at the unload area spiels to them the re-ride opportunity every time a ride stops. This is common practice for Universal.

Yeah that's a better analogy, although longer and more complicated. The only point I was trying to make is that it is a valid complaint, sure it's minor but it doesn't warrant the "at least you're not at work response". I don't think the OP was making a huge deal out of it, but rather just pointing out that the park itself seemed to be having a rough day with several issues. I see that a lot myself at MK, so that's how I saw this. You don't ask for refunds or anything, but I plan my trips knowing if I'm going to MK it's not going to be the smoothest of days.

Well I wasn’t offered one on Spider man or men in black and both stopped but didn’t require an evac. So I wouldn’t say it’s common practice.

Is this a new policy raven? I was on Spiderman when it stopped for about 10 minutes the other year and wasn't offered a re-ride.

My point is you can be disappointed by setbacks in your Disney day and focus on that OR you can move on to the next awesome thing and focus on enjoying that.

As far as the work comment, I included that to hopefully show the OP that things could be worse. Don't let not having the perfect Disney day from stopping you from having a great Disney day. I may have a good day here at home, but IMHO my day would be better at WDW, even if I rode 0 rides. Not ideal, but also not likely.

I do realize the people, especially those who come from outside the US, who don't get to come to the parks as much get more frustrated at the thought they will miss out on something. Although it wasn't Disney's fault the OP didn't know Frontierland and Adventureland was not open for EMH.

I understand people get upset when the monorail isn't working. This is a valid complaint and Disney needs to address it! (and if rumors are true they are). However, rides going down for safety or show is just part of the theme park biz. Now more than ever in this tech age.

From the sound of it, their day is going better now. I hope they have a fantastic time!:D

Thunder Mountain go well for the OP?View attachment 283592 well OP?
We had a good day in the end. Just annoyed I didn’t get to cheat on buzz 😆

That being said, having been away from the parks for a year it’s showing how tired a few things are looking. I don’t think we notice these sorts of things when you see them every couple of weeks or months but the contemporary monorail station for example was looking in a really bad state, torn carpet, stains on the walls, etc. Then the horrible jolty monorail automation system as it squeaks into a station.

Anyhoo looking hopeful that the monorail will get some love soon so hopefully it’ll become magical again and lose the current “this is gross” atmosphere when you board.

Had a brill day in typhoon lagoon today. Got in as the first round of rain started and everyone left. Rain stopped and we got a couple of hours with walk-ons to everything before the thunder and heavy rain came in.

We enjoyed our day at MK inspite of high crowds for a Wednesday. Then we thought of getting a Dole Whip. The line was long enough to block traffic coming from Frontier Land. Citrus Swirl? Same thing. OK, let's settle for ice cream. Lines out the door and down the street from Adventure Land down Main Street. Pastry? Same thing. Let's review: One of the best run corporations on the planet can't or won't anticipate demand for Dole whip?
