FP+ has 3 major drawbacks:
  1. Limited to 3 per day.
  2. Limited to 1 theme park.
  3. Limited to tiers at 2 theme parks (Epcot & DHS).
IMHO, the worst limitation is the last one. Frankly, Epcot and DHS don't have more then 3 attractions that are worth FastPassing. Telling me I have to pick between Soarin' and Test Track, or Toy Story Mania and Rock 'n Roller Coaster is basically telling me that 2 of WDW's 4 theme parks should not even offer FP+.

Disney needs to build more rides. :grumpy:

However, back to the point of this thread, MK has plenty of good attractions that are worth FastPassing. :)

Which is exactly why Disney has to tier those parks. I agree with you...they need more attractions in those parks to make this work!

Sorry if I missed it, but has anyone done rider swap with FP+? How does that work? Is it still a paper ticket?
Yes. And that's actually what CMs are doing if there are Magic Band issues. There's no consistency from ride to ride. My sisters family and I were grouped together for Dinosaur Fastpasses (5 total) while her friend's family was separate but able to sync their times with ours. When we got to the line, only 4 of us went in and my wife used my sister's Magic Band (this should have had Fastpasses for 5 accounts). The person manning the entry Fastpass wanted to see bands for everyone. I had my AP and he gave us a single Rider Swap ticket (it still didn't add up to the 4 people we needed). On other attractions using Fastpass+ they will see the first scanned Band/Pass and see everyone else that's linked to it.

That's all you need to see. You scan one RFID enabled piece of media and it should list a quantity of people attached to it. The ONLY reason to do anything different is so that they can track specific movements of everyone more closely.

Cast Members are officially allowed to use their MEP for FP+ at DAK only. MK will be included beginning on the 14th. DHS and EC will be following before the end of January. CMs cannot pre-engage unless park tickets are linked to their MDX account and they have stayed at least once at a WDW property since that resort's rollout date.

We are allowed. As for it working? Good luck.

I hate that a few weeks ago we had to sit and choose which rides we wanted to take our girls on in February BUT at this point the faster this thing is rolled out, the faster they can start working on other projects.

*IN THEORY of course

I, just now, tried to go into MDE to manage the Magic Bands in my party. My dad shows up, my mom does not. I try to link her Magic Band up with our account and get the "This Magic Band is already linked to an account" message. Back to the screen that lists all Magic Bands that have ever been used in a party I have been in and my mom is not listed. Sorry, mom- NO FP+ FOR YOU!

Giving up on this until Disney can fix all the problems. My parents really love coming here and I would hate for each vacation to end up with a headache because we can only go on TTA and COP.. or even worse SGE.

We went the second week of December and used Fastpass+ and had the option of using the traditional fastpass as well, however the crowds were low so no need for either. We did rearrange fastpass times and add some just so we could learn the system. We had no problems but they do need to make some changes like for people with park hoppers let us get fastpasses at more than one park. I am interested to see how it works when we go in June with the summer crowds. I am a planner and this works for me but I can see how some people who dont like to plan or dont want to plan can find it a pain. It was great not running at rope drop to get a fast pass for TS or RR..

I haven't had an issue using it in DAK on the day of. Advanced booking, however, is a whole other story. In fact, we were told explicitly that trying to link a mangate to MDX would deactivate the maingate because of a system issue.

Can't wait for this to just be over with and fully rolled out so you guys can quit arguing about which group has it better, legacy or Fastpass+. Or so you'll realize that it isn't that bad.

I'm also very excited to see how this will affect standby wait times.

I too think Epcot is going to be the biggest problem.

Guests who could get FP's for Test Track and Soarin' on the old system are basically screwed out of that option now. There's going to be a lot of angry people who don't understand why they can't get FP+ for both (from what I understand).

Does anyone have the full list of attractions where FP+ was added and there wasn't FP before?

You can still do TT AND Soarin' in the same day without a huge wait just by timing when you go through the stand-by line for the ride you didn't FP+. For example, during IllumiNations, whereas the line had been upwards of 140mins at TT for much of the day, we walked from entrance to the design studio in less than 2 minutes.

Sure, it will suck for some demographics I don't doubt that, parents with small children who will need to choose between riding rides or seeing some princess, families who doesn't ride anything separate from each other and Junior will sulk while not getting a second go at Space Mountain because SB line is too long are some of the cases that comes to mind. But... As long as they don't tier MK I believe it won't be as bad as we have at EPCOT and DHS.

I wish they hurry up and finish with all this testing and start selling extra FP+ to onsite guests. I never toured the parks without fastpasses and I standing in line is not for me so I admit I'll be the first sucker to shell out another $300 for 3 more (non tiered) FP+.

I agree. I love that you can FP+ the M&G because I remember standing in line for 90 minutes to do the M&G with the fairies at the old location in Toontown Square.

While I'm not flush with cash, I too would welcome an option to get more FP+ slots (onsite guests, flat out pay for it, AP benefit, whatever). It may not seem egalitarian or "fair", but then again, how "fair" is it that those who can afford the VIP tour can skip all the lines and never worry about all this FP+ nonsense?

I don't know where I am. It's like I'm running through attraction after attraction and there's only one thing I know. I have to use MyMagic+. It's like I'm breaking into a million pieces and there's only one thing I know - I have to save Mickey from Meg Crofton.
Obscure Doctor Who reference there ;)

Making you choose 3 FP+ a day is also potentially problematic because you also can't choose fewer than 3.

For example, I went to HS and (because I was staying at the Swan resort) had to make my FP+ choices through a (very helpful) CM armed with tablet. With the three tier setup, I chose Tower of Terror and Toy Story, knowing I could use the Single Rider line at the Rockin' Rollercoaster. But then I HAD to choose a third in order for the system to work, so picked Muppets 3D even though I've seen it plenty of times and had no plan to again. It was the only attraction in that tier I had any interest in and thought maybe I'd see it even though I've never waited more than 10 minutes to see it without needing FP.

So that was a throwaway FP for me and does it mean there will be one less available for someone who really wants it?

I realize Disney will be able to use the MB and FP+ to get a lot of data about how people choose rides and move through the parks -- I hope they use that info to refine the system.
