Is there anything special given to people who are celebrating their birthday at Magic Kingdom[a pin, vest, etc.]? If there is do they get any special treatment around the parks?

If you go to Guest Relations (City Hall in MK), you can get a birthday pin. There isn't any special privelege you get other then the fact that a lot of CMs will wish you a happy birthday, and you might get a surprise at a sit-down restaurant. The biggest joy is probably the fact that you're getting to spend your birthday at the happiest place on earth, what more could you ask for?!?

I almost forgot...WELCOME TO WDWMAGIC!

Thank You. We are going for my sister's birthday at the end of October. She's turning ten. We live two hours away from Disney, so we get to go for all our birthdays.

Wish her a happy birthday from us all and I hope it's the most magical one she's ever had! Have a great time and make sure to give us a trip report when you get back!

I turned 27 on our last visit. My wife grabbed a pin because she knew I'd get embarrassed, but it was pretty fun. Almost every CM wished me a happy birthday that day and I even got a free piece of Choc Cake at the California Grille that night. Since I don't eat a lot of chocolate, my wife said it was excellent. Oh yeah, and some little girl sang happy birthday to me on the monorail at the end of the night. Anybody would get a kick out of it, especially a child.

I celebrated my 30th birthday at Epcot and Magic Kingdom this year. The Epcot birthday buttons are cool because they say "Happy Birthday" in the different languages of the World Showcase pavillions. I had lunch in Mexico and got a free churro with my burrito. Practically every cast member I encountered wished me a happy birthday... some of the ones in World Showcase even said it in their native language. The 2nd time I rode Spaceship Earth, the CM's in the loading area sang "Happy Birthday" to me. Was so funny.

Over at Magic Kingdom, I ate at Crystal Palace and I got a cupcake with a birthday candle and a card signed by the Pooh characters. The MK birthday button is kinda plain, but big, so it gets noticed. I got a little extra attention from some characters that noticed my button (Rafiki, Goofy, Piglet, Tigger...), which was very amusing. Best thing was on Jungle Cruise... our skipper let me "drive" the boat! That was a riot!

No matter what your age, celebrating your birthday at WDW can be alot of fun.

We celebrated my wife's birthday last month by going to all four parks. Unfortunately, MGM does not have a button unique to that park (It gives out the same button as The Magic Kingdom) but both The Animal Kingdom and Epcot have buttons that are unique to those parks. I especially like the Epcot one! When you wear them you get Cast Members, characters, and even fellow guests all day long saying happy birthday. It really makes for a special day! Here's a tip... We were going to a character breakfast the morning of my wife's birthday, before we went to any park. We picked up a pin from the Magic Kingdom the night before, so that she would be able to wear the pin to breakfast. Make sure if you're eating somewhere special for breakfast that morning that you pick up a pin the night before. Have fun! :D

My family has celebrated 4 birthdays down there (none of which are my own, we never go in February... :() Anyway, last trip, we were there for Christmas. My mom's birthday was on Christmas Day (hence the name Carol). We got her a pin at Town Hall, and even got a special Christmas card signed by Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto!
We had dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern that night, had to wait an hour to get a seat (but no worries, I had my trusty Hidden Mickey guide with me for reading material...) Mom got a special birthday cake (about 12", and free, making it sweeter...), and Mickey served it to her! The cake even had an imprint of Mickey on it (which reminded me, I should get my book signed by the Big Cheese himself...). Needless to say, it was the single best Christmas I ever had. As for Mom, well, she nearly cried when all of this was happening, and claimed it was her best birthday, too...

We've taken our child twice on his birthday. The 1st time we stayed at Animal Kingdom. When we checked in, they gave him a very nice personalized hand-autographed photo of the "Fab Five". We had also called ahead of time to the shop in Downtown Disney that does the customized spray-paint shirts (can't remember the name, sorry!), and had a Mickey Mouse birthday shirt made for him to wear on his special day. We'd had the idea for him to get it autographed by all the characters he met throughout his birthday, but didn't think about that he'd have to take off the shirt to get it signed. (Wear two). Cast members will usually do special things when they see the previously mentioned birthday pin: We got off the Snow White ride, and a cast member saw his pin, asked if he'd ridden Dumbo yet, and escorted us all straight to the front of the line in the middle of the crowded day. Our son also got to be in the Halloween Parade, although they didn't know it was his birthday, it worked out really cool. Because they saw his t-shirt, the cast of the Jungle Cruise all sang happy birthday to him on the ride. The 2nd time, we stayed at the Polynesian, and when we came home the night of his birthday, there was a VERY nice Mickey Mouse cake, birthday hats, balloons floating off the chairs, and noisemakers, complete with REAL plates and silverware. It was SO nice. Also, both times, he had a hand-signed birthday card with his favorite character waiting. So basically, just let someone know ahead of time, and though it may vary, the castmembers are quite good about doing something special for the birthdays. There's nothing official, but it's still pretty cool.

I live in Kissimmee, so I was able to take my baby to the MK on his 1st birthday in August. It was so fun (thankfully it was between hurricanes!). I got him a button, and he also got his first haircut at the barbershop. That was sooo worth the money... the barber was wonderful, and my son got a certificate and a pair of Mickey ears with "First Haircut" embroidered on the back. So cute! I just love that I could take him there on his birthday.

We stayed over this past May for my 27th birthday. And I picked up the birthday buttons and wore them myself. Like everyone else, I got wished Happy Birthday by everyone all day long. It was great.

We also had (non-character) dinner PS at Cinderella's Royal Table. Our server sang happy birthday, brought me a cupcake with a candle, and had confetti and streamers on the table when I arrived.

Also, on our way out, we stopped back by because we had wanted to pick up a souviner mug from the Royal Table and the manager was downstairs at the booth. We told him what a GREAT meal we had and how nice everyone was and that we wanted to know if we could buy a mug. He left, came back like less then a minute later and handed me a bag with TWO mugs that he gave to me for free and wished me a happy birthday! How awesome is that?

I think it's great for anyone of any age to celebrate their birthday at the World. You have a great time and it's nice when everyone tells you happy birthday all day. :)

man, i have always wondered this. i have invisioned spending a birthday at wdw one year. see, my birthday is already a party, i just have to show up. january 1. so needless to say, new years is always fun for me.

ill have to try going to city hall on the 30th of december and ask about the new years celebration. it couldnt hurt to ask and see if i get lucky and possibly get something special.

mostly wishful thinking.

btw, having your birthday on new years isnt all it is cracked up to be. it actually stinks. you get shafted on the presents, most people are hung-over, everything is closed, in most cities it is miserably cold. what a perfect excuss to go to wdw, its open and warm.

I have celebrated my 25th, 27th and 28th there and they were wonderful even though I found out about the birthday pin after all three of those birthdays! If you really want to draw attention to yourself you could buy the birthday hat!

oh, my worst nightmare. im not the "ham" that some are and love to be on stage. ill be happy if they gave me a free ice cream cone. lol

Make sure that you tell them when you are making the Priority Seating Reservation though! When we went to Chef Mickey's for my wife's birthday, they made a big deal about it. Characters came to our table and everyone waved their napkins. Same thing happened with another person later that morning. But right next to us, it turned out a family brought their child to celebrate his birthday that morning but since they did not tell the person when they made their reservation, there were no characters or special recognition. They did get a cupcake eventually, but no characters came over to give it to them. No napkin waving or fancy music. So make sure that you let them know well in advance so they can make your meal extra special!
