@spectromagic04 and @brb1006 why so angry at what I posted? I look at what Cedar Point did for their 150th anniversary with a new night time parade, a bunch of new restaurants, a new boat ride, a museum of the history of the park plus all kinds of new merch.

Contrast that with WDW and all they are most likely adding is a used night time parade and some merch. I don't count Rat or Tron as they would have been already opened had Covid not happened. Sorry it doesn't impress me.

I'm not sure what you mean for the last paragraph: Tron (and GotG) was very much being build with the intention of being a "50th Anniversary" offering . Same with Harmonious. And those are all coming. A light parade was always up in the air, but the scuttlebutt is that one is coming, so why doesn't that "count"? It's still new for everyone at WDW and is obviously an improvement over not having a parade.

And don't worry, I'm sure they're will be "all kinds of new merch" for the 50th.

Assuming PTN does indeed come to MK, there's no reason it has to debut on Oct 1, 2021. They could always start running it in the summer before the Halloween parties start. Would certainly give an opportunity for the locals to see it first to try to lessen crowding in October itself.

What has been the trend for other anniversary celebrations in the past? Does the entertainment sing start earlier or not until the day?

Edit: just looked it up and noted that Paint the Night itself started running May 22, 2015 which was a bit before DL's 60th anniversary on July 17.
The 50th was originally set for May 2021 through either Labor Day 2022 or 12/31/22. No idea how the pandemic impacts the start...because no one knows. Just focus on all of the new cupcakes coming. “Nothing can stop us now!”

The thing that bugs me about Tron and Guardians is the slow-footed construction (especially Tron). They're milking four years of build-up out of the rides to have them for the 50th. They should've been done and working on new rides by now. Or added some smaller rides before starting these headliners to coincide with the 50th.

They should just move forward and announce the 50th beginning in May, with the add in of new experiences and availability Subject To Change due to Covid19. That way it covers their butts heaven forbid if a new wave comes through next year.

Is it staying in ROA for this? Or is it going to try the new GF bridge and go backsatge?
I believe she’s either going in the canal but less likely is she’s going all the way to Bay Lake facilities. Not 100% sure. She’s def not staying in RoA.

It’s a bit tasteless to announce a giant party right now, dontcha think? Optics matter. They’ve already announced the 50th is next year and they’re opening new E-tickets. That will need to be enough for the fanboys and girls until there’s a vaccine. No one outside of here cares about a potential light parade.

Because there was a time when WDW used to go all out with their anniversary celebrations. A notable example was their 20th Anniversary where Spectromagic was one of the park's anniversary offerings. It was even highlighted in various commercials in 1991.

With PTN at MK, would they need to do any park updates or anything? Would be cool if PTN could do what MSEP and Spectro could not and that’s go reverse route instead of just MS to Frontierland. The first performance could go from MS to Frontierland and then the second performance from Frontierland to MS.

It’s not that MSEP couldn’t have gone the other way. It’s that starting the parade in the front of the park helps to control the mass exodus of guests at the end of the night. The idea being that people won’t leave until the last float passes them. Otherwise it’d be guests in the back of the park trying to push their way through the parade-audience to get out (which already happens enough)

This hit's the nail on the head... 'We're having a big party next year come on down' doesn't feel right when over 200k Americans and nearly a million people worldwide have died from a virus in 6 months and there will in all likelihood be many more over the coming winter. There's new people coming to Disney all the time and I think it's only the regular and repeat visitors who care about a night parade because you cant miss what you have never seen.

Yes that is true.

Not sure if you are aware, but none of these at Cedar Point happened this year, with the exception of a few new places to eat on the midway. Everything was postponed until possibly next summer - will be interesting to see if they do still occur though.

I expect them to still happen if things get better and more people are back to travelling.

Anyone think WDW will get a Anniversary theme song? Heck I’d be happy with a Remember The Magic Remake lol.

Just had a thought, and since parades have been down since the Splash Mountain/Zip A Dee Doo Dah thing, I wonder if Disney is going to cut that from the parade soundtracks? Off the top of my head FoF and PTN have that song in the finale.

In DL, absolutely. So far nothing Splash Mountain/Zip A Dee Doo Dah has been cut in MK or Springs, so it’s an unknown.
